52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2016 Our summer weather continues to be warm up, therefore our Wednesday pack walks have been moved to 7 pm at the Summit parking lot. We also meet every Saturday morning at 7 am in the parking lot in front of the Fitness Center until further notice. Walks last about 30 to 45 minutes on both sidewalks and the trail system. Everyone is welcome. Retractable leases are not permitted. You must bring a line leash not greater than 6 feet. Even the most inexperienced dog usually settles into the fun of a pack walk within 10 minutes. Dogs of all sizes are welcome. Even those who don't currently have a dog are welcome to join us on our walks. Join us and have some fun. The Dog Owners Group (DOG) is reviewing the location of doggy waste stations throughout Four Seasons. Some residents have complained about dog waste along the sidewalks and trail system. Dog owners who walk their dogs daily observe there is some occasional waste but certainly not a prolific amount. However, some of the waste stations are poorly placed and DOG will be making recommendations to the HOA management for better locations. The Dog Owners Group was not asked to participate in placing the existing dog waste stations. We think DOG can recommend locations that will better address animal waste collection in the Four Seasons community. Dog Owners Group is instituting a training program for dog owners at Four Seasons for a fee. This training will result in a dog being certified as a Canine Good Citizen (CGC). The following are the elements a dog must qualify to obtain CGC certification: • Politely greets a friendly stranger without barking • Sits politely for petting • Welcomes being groomed, brushed; allows paws and ears to be handled • Walks as directed on loose leash • Moves politely through a crowd • Sits, lies down, and stays in place on command • Comes when called • Behaves politely around other dogs, is not aggressive, does not bark in an aggressive manner • Reacts with confidence to distractions and loud noises • Can be left with a trusted person If you would like more information, send a message to FSB. dogowners@gmail.com or contact Patrick at (951) 769-7626. ~ Patrick Gerety D.O.G.
