EXCURSIONS EXCURSION SIGN UPS: THURS., SEPT. 1, 8 AM Visit the Rec. Dept. today before the highlighted excursions sell out! THESE EXCURSIONS AREN'T SOLD OUT? SHOCKING! Carlsbad Village Street Faire Sun., Nov. 6, 8 am - 4:30 pm, $23 pp. More than 100,000 people will take in the beauty of this seaside city while browsing through unique booths, indulging in delectable eats and enjoying family entertainment when the largest one-day street faire in the nation returns in November. Each year, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosts the faire in May and November. Now in its 42nd year, the free event has grown to be so popular that it not only continually attracts people from all over Southern California, but also from other states. Some visitors even plan their vacations around the bi-annual event. "The reason so many people return to the faire every year is that they can count on finding quality items to purchase because of the wide variety of vendors — you name it and its for sale at the faire." Just like at past faires, over 900 vendors will sell everything fathomable, including clothes, accessories, plants, household products, art, antiques and home décor. The international food court will once again feature more than 50 booths serving everything from Thai to Hawaiian cuisine. The Rotary Club of Carlsbad's beer and wine garden will entertain fairgoers with a large screen TV and live bands. The Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad will continue its more than 25-year tradition of hosting a pancake breakfast at the Carlsbad railroad depot. The meal, which includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice, will be served between 7 am – 12 pm (on own). Christmas Trees at the Reagan Library Tues., Nov. 29, 8 am - 4 pm, $40 pp. The Reagan Library rests on a majestic hill overlooking the breathtaking topography of Southern California. The 100-acre campus, with picturesque views reaching out to the Pacific Ocean, lush gardens and a serene setting, pays tribute to one of the nations most beloved leaders. While at the Reagan Library, enjoy the fresh air as you stroll through the Library's replicas of the White House Rose Gardens and White House South Lawn. See for yourself why President Reagan felt so at home here. The holidays come alive at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum! Every year, the Library hosts an all new special exhibit of themed Christmas trees. Each tree reflects its own uniqueness through the use of lights, ornaments and decorations, becoming its own piece of magnificent art. In addition to these 24 trees, a 17-foot tall tree and a White House tree will be displayed in the main Museum lobby. Join us for this memorable holiday excursion. Reagan's Country Café offers both self-service and made to order items. Conveniently located next to the Berlin Wall exhibit and the Library's Museum Store, the Café features patio and indoor seating. Lunch is on own on site. Also, the Ronald Reagan Pub is a great place to stop for a beverage, snack, lunch or dessert and offers a selection of self- service items. It is conveniently located on the first floor of the Air Force One Pavilion. Remember there is a considerable amount of walking and please bring your own water. 16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2016 |
