Numbers will be handed out and there will be seating on the Lobby side of the Ballroom. You must be present in the Ballroom to purchase your ticket. Bocelli tickets will only be sold to those that are in the Ballroom. All other events and trips will be sold as usual by lining up down the hallway. Look for the full description in next month's Lifestyles. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2016 | 17 Blood Drive: Fri., Oct. 21, 9 am – 2 pm, Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room Sun Lakes is hosting a blood drive to support Lifestream, which is a blood bank for the San Bernardino & Riverside Counties. The donated blood goes to local hospitals in our area such as Beaver Medical, San Gorgonio, and Loma Linda. Please help us on this day by donating blood. Our goal is to have 40 people donate! If you are interested please call the reception desk and sign up for a time slot. We have time slots every 15 minutes. Hope to see you there! October Garage Sales: Start cleaning out those garages for our Fall Garage Sales. Sales are 8 am – 4 pm. Residents are asked to have any remaining items that did not sell back into their homes after the garage sale. Dates and district participation is as follows: Oct. 1: Dists. 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23; Oct. 8: Dists. 2, 3, 5, 7, 16, 17; Oct. 15: Dists. 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 Halloween Doggie Parade: Sat., Oct. 22, 10 am on the Driving Range, $4 per entry The Recreation Department will be hosting the Sixth Annual Halloween Doggie Costume Parade. The parade will be at the Main Clubhouse Veranda and Driving Range. This event is $4 per dog (checks only) to register with a limit of 50 registered dogs. There will be prizes given out to the costume winners. Prizes include first, second and third place in addition to Most Creative, Most Glamorous and Most Scary. All dogs that participate will receive a treat for participation. Light beverages will also be provided for everyone. Registration will start on Thurs., Sept. 1. Craft Show: Fri., Nov. 4 and Sat., Nov. 5, 9 am – 2 pm, Main Clubhouse Ballroom It's that time again; time to start your holiday shopping. With the holidays right around the corner, what better way to shop for the special people in your life than taking a short trip to your Main Clubhouse Ballroom? Come out and see the unique gifts and crafts that have been made by your fellow Sun Lakes residents. There is something for everyone and everything has been made with love. Admission is free and door prizes will be given away each day. Vendor sign-ups will start Mon., Oct. 3 at 8 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Annual Veterans Walk: Sat., Nov. 12, 9:30 am – 11:30 am Please join us for our 5th Annual Veterans Walk to honor all who have served for our country. This walk will be held inside Sun Lakes and all the proceeds from this event will be going to the local VFW Troop 233. Last year we raised over $7,800 and our goal this year is to surpass that. It will consist of a two mile walk around Country Club Drive to Riviera, and back up Country Club Drive to the Main Clubhouse. If you don't feel you can do the two miles, there are turn back increments at half a mile, one mile and 1.5 miles so there is a walk for everyone. Registration forms can be picked up at the Recreation Desk starting Thurs., Sept. 1. The cost is $20 pp (checks only) and includes a goodie bag with an event T-shirt, continental breakfast after the walk and an opportunity to listen to a couple of decorated veterans. For any resident unable to walk, you can still participate by entering your golf cart into the event. We ask that the carts be decorated with a U.S. Flag, a Service Flag, or a Wounded Warrior Flag to support the event. Please note, golf cart use is for disabled residents ONLY.
