| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2016 | 35 Dinner Dance Club This month starts a new season with some FREE activities for residents that are interested in learning about the club. Please come and check us out without any obligation. The first free activity will be a very basic beginner line dance instruction. This will be Mon., Sept. 12 at 7 pm in the South Clubhouse. This is for beginners and those that need a refresher. So come and give it a try. The second free activity will be basic couples dance instruction on Tues., Sept. 13 at 7 pm in the South Clubhouse. All couples are invited to come, but especially those that haven't done country western dancing but would like to learn. The third free activity will be a traditional Country Western dance. This will be Fri., Sept. 23 , from 7 to 9 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. At these dances we do three line dances and then two couple's dances throughout the evening. We understand that beginners are reluctant to come to the Friday dances, but come, see what we do, meet some nice people and be entertained watching the "experienced" dancers try to remember how to do the dances. The other line dance instructions this month are Mon., Sept. 19 and 26, again at 7 pm at the South Clubhouse. Everyone can come to these instruction dates. A second couples dance instruction will be Tues., Sept. 20, 7 pm at the South Clubhouse. There is no charge for couples instruction. So there you have it. A full September of activities for beginners and for our more experienced dancers. Any questions? Call Joe or Jean at 769-9148. Country Western Dance Fall will soon be here (hopefully bringing us some cooler weather) and September brings us our last "dressy casual" dance for this season! Join us at our dance on Sat., Sept. 17, for an evening of dinner, dance, and great music provided by "A Touch of Class." Our September menu has us starting off the evening with a wonderful Caesar dinner salad followed by the following entrée choices: 1) Half roasted chicken, $23.25; 2) Boneless braised short ribs, $22.25. Both entrées are served with roasted red new potatoes and chef 's choice vegetable; 3) Vegetarian option is eggplant Parmesan, also with chef 's choice vegetable, $20. Dessert will be petite brown butter pumpkin loaf with burnt butter icing! The doors open at 5:30 pm so you have an opportunity to mingle and visit with friends prior to dinner. Sign-ups are available from Sept. 1 through Sept. 8, by leaving your check and sign-up form in the box located on the front gate at 782 Torrey Pines Rd. Request your favorite table location and every effort will be made to accommodate your request if possible. Check out our website to see the table locations and print out your sign up form. Remember to call Carla at 797-3506 before 3 pm on the day of the dance if you have signed up and are unable to attend. She will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Looking forward to seeing all of you on the dance floor! The Stardust Dancers are hard at work learning new routines for their 2017 showcase. This show will have a new format, with some new and interesting material. The modeling class will be performing for the 21, 22, and 23 district show. Stardust Dancers will be holding their own fashion show on Nov. 16, by the request of the Tommy Bahama outlet. It will be an evening event, and raffle proceeds will go to our very own EPAP Animal Rescue efforts. Participation in the Follies show, Christmas tree lighting, and activities day are in the works. Many thanks to all who attended the 2016 "Stardust Showcase." A whole lot of whooping and hollering, with generous applause from the audiences made the hard work all worth the efforts. All of us appreciate your support. Thank you, thank you. Stardust Dancers International Dancers Our fifth annual show is now behind us. We hope you liked it. IDS members enjoy dancing for its own sake, but the ability to put on this annual show is definitely icing on the cake. We appreciate our Sun Lakes friends and neighbors, association staff, our own members who do not perform onstage but labor behind the scenes, the spouses of IDS members — and all who assist, encourage, indulge, enable and support us. Thank you, one and all. For information, or if you would like to join us in learning authentic international dances, please call Diane at 769-0286 (Director), Nora at 845-8333 (Flamenco/Filipino), Sussy at 797- 3258 (Folkloric), Joan at 769-3978 (Asian), Sarah at 769-1164 (Hawaiian), Merle at 845-9342 (Indian), Donna at 282-1087 (Belly Dance), Rachel at 845-8393 (American).
