34 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | September 2016 | From the President – Dave Cometa: To our golf members and all residents of Four Seasons. Your 4 Seasons Golf Club Board has been working with Roger Choi, the manager of the Hemet Golf Course, to establish better communications between us and the golf course. We have had several meetings with Mr. Choi and have been able to come up with some better rates for playing golf here and have also established a better understanding of our needs for the golf course. Mr. Choi will be doing course inspections with our Greens Committee Chairman Ron Leatherman and the golf course superintendent to see what can be fixed in a timely matter. We all know that they will never get the course back in the shape it was when it first opened, but we will continue working with Mr. Choi to get fixed what we can. Our main issue is to protect our most important asset here at Four Seasons, the golf course. Without it our home values would drop, so I'm asking for all Four Seasons residents to help by playing more golf using the lower rates that are for residents only. We are, among many other things, a Golf Course Community, so let's get out and play some golf. If you are not a member of the Golf Club yet, we would love to have you join us. We're a fun group. "See you on the links." From the Tournament Chair – Addis Scott: You may sign up at our prior Tuesday golf event, or contact the Tournament Committee by email at hemet4sgc@gmail.com. We have tournaments every Tuesday throughout the year, including individual play as well as team play. On Aug. 9 we had a benefit for the Hemet Police Department. It was a great time and we raised $2500 for our police department. Thank you members. Tee times are 7:30 am from April through September and 8 am from October through March. It is not too late to join. Just stop by the front desk at The Lodge and pick up an application. Complete the application and return it to The Lodge with a check for $63. This will include membership to the club, as well as membership to the SCGA, who will provide you with an official handicap bi-monthly. If you have any questions please contact Elliot Yaeger, (951) 223-3735 or email: ey1611@gmail.com From the Rules Chair – Tom Johnson: For most people that I have talked to about rules, the rulebook is a boring way to spend your time and it is not very easy to check the book during a round. Why not try going to one of these websites: www.scga.org, www.usga.org, or www.randa.org. Each of these has information on the rules along with quizzes and videos to make learning the rules more interesting. The quizzes help to check to see if you understand the rules. In addition to the rules, these sites also give help on golf skills and etiquette. The time we spend learning the rules can help us to play better and score better, just like learning new skills and practicing them. From the Greens Chair – Ron Leatherman: Responding to concerns about the condition of the golf course raised by the 4 Seasons Golf Club board of directors, Roger Choi, the manager of the Hemet Golf Club, conducted an on-course inspection with the course superintendent and myself. Following the inspection, a prioritized list of items to be addressed was developed. Mr. Choi has agreed to work on the list as resources are available, to improve the course appearance and playability. We are looking forward to these improvements, which will benefit not only golfers but also all Four Seasons homeowners, as the improvements should have a positive effect on the value of homes in the Four Seasons community. Our courts have been completely redone. They have been closed for three weeks. My husband can't wait to get on the court tonight. Come join the fun! We play on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 am. We invite anyone that would like to learn how to play PickleBall to come down on the fourth Saturday of the month at 8 am for lessons. We know you will have as much fun as we do. For those who work we also play on Thursday evenings at 6 pm. Players of all skill levels are welcome! If you have any questions call Nancy (951) 926- 5018. Pickleball
