October is packed with quite a variety of events for every interest. Let's start our line up with the ever popular HOA Garage Sale. The Garage Sale will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 8 am to 2 pm. There will be a community map of all of the homes participating in the sale at the Lodge, the Summit and the Portrero Gate. Have fun and go treasure hunting Four Seasons style! Residents of Beaumont and Banning are invited to come to the Four Seasons Holiday Craft Fair in the Lodge Ballroom. This is a great opportunity to find unique and interesting gifts for any of the upcoming holidays. I love being able to surprise a loved one with something special that they would not be able to purchase themselves at local stores. The Holiday Craft Fair is on Saturday, Oct. 15; it starts at 9 am and ends at 2 pm. Here's a great opportunity that the Association is generously sponsoring: It's the "Stay Safe Senior Personal Safety Class" in the Lodge Ballroom. Did you know that people aged 55 years plus have a higher chance than younger people of being a victim of violent crime? Do you realize that predators are looking for "easy" targets? Seniors are considered prime targets by robbers, thieves and others intent on committing crimes of opportunity. No more! Protect yourself with easy-to- learn and simple-to-apply practical safety skills. Stay Safe, Inc. is a non-profit company committed to teaching seniors of all ages how to stay safe in their own environment. Learn what personal characteristics would attract a predator to your person and property. Discover how a woman's purse sends a "steal me" signal to a criminal. Identify your personal safety zone and react appropriately to your "flight or fight response." Learn this and more at the "Stay Safe Senior Personal Safety Class," scheduled for Oct. 22 from 10 am to 12 noon. Wear comfortable clothing. Sign up for this free class starting Monday, Oct. 3 in the Lodge. Don't miss the Love and Marriage comedy show written and directed by Michael Rothberg in the Lodge Ballroom at 7 pm on Friday, Oct. 28. This is going to be theater seating style and dinners are NOT welcome at this show. The doors will open at 6:30 pm and it will be first come, first served. There is no cost to attend. Once again I'm putting a call out to any of you who know World War II Vets in the community. Please give these humble heroes away by calling me and telling me who they are or by sending me an email (Cindy.graves@ fsresidential.com). This is important to us because we want to show the honor to these Veterans that they deserve and our Veteran's Day program this year is spotlighting this amazing generation of Veterans. I am also looking for additional stories from our "Blue Star" moms, aunts and grandmas perhaps sharing their particular home front involvement in the war efforts. This is such a tremendous privilege to learn of and be able to share such precious insights in our history. Have a great autumn and I look forward to seeing you around the Lodge! 16 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2016 Activities Director Corner By Cindy Graves, Activities Director OCTOBER 7 Radio Show 8 HOA Garage Sale 15 Craft Boutique 18 Tennis Banquet 22 Karaoke 22 Senior Safety Class 28 Love & Marriage Show NOVEMBER 11 Veterans Day 12 Karaoke DECEMBER 2 & 3 Holiday Extravaganza 9 Ballroom Dance Christmas 10 AACC Christmas Dance 13 Holiday Magic Show 15 Wine Club Holiday Formal 23 Karaoke Kristmas 31 New Years Eve UPCOMING EVENTS
