26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | October 2016 | Thoughts for the Month: Have you noticed how cool and fresh the morning air is? For those of you who don't bounce out of bed in the wee hours, you are missing a real treat. Looks as though we might just be heading toward those cooler days… with any good luck. Celebrations of Life: A Celebration of Life (photos above) was held on Aug. 13 for Angelo LaPonza. We share the remembrance with you. It was held in the Multipurpose Room and was well attended by family and friends. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Four Seasons families who have lost a loved one. We don't always get notified of these. Team Sunshine deems it a privilege to be of service in time of need. We are here to serve our seniors (SOS). Kindness Recognition: This month's nominee and recipient for the September 2016 Team Sunshine Kindness Award is Mary Swinney (above center). Mary is known for being kind and caring to her neighbors and other residents of Four Seasons — and Trish Egan noticed. Per Trish, "Mary has become the Team Sunshine's unofficial ambassador. She always notices when her neighbors have needs that are not being met. Mary will quickly notify Team Sunshine if a card needs to be sent, a phone call needs to be made or help is needed." Well, every great charity needs an auxiliary and we appreciate Mary Swinney for being caring enough and KIND enough to be our unofficial auxiliary person. Please join me in congratulating Mary Swinney for being our September 2016, Four Seasons Team Sunshine Kindness Award recipient. Immunization Clinic: We hosted the Sept. 23 Immunization Clinic and assisted the Rite Aid folks in this activity. This program ensures our community has easy access to this year's immunization program. Emilie Ortega, Activities Chair, put her Sunshiners on this task and we are proud to say that those who signed up for inoculations are "good to go" for another year. Special Team Sunshine Information: Cards and Phone Service: If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Egan (909) 844-3852. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Special Monthly Programs: In September we featured a Self Defense program which was well attended by the community. As we wind down to the end of the year, we are offering an evening program which features a Medium. On Oct. 17 from 6:30 to 8 pm, we are featuring a Medium. Snacks will be served. You may bring your own special beverage. We thank you for your support of our programs. The Mystery Donation: It came to our attention from a Lodge attendant that a booklet of stamps had been left at the front desk. Our mystery donor was not identified but we are so very grateful for the donation. We would like to send you a thank you but, with no contact name, we will have to express our thankfulness in this response. Thank you! Closing Thoughts: "I can't imagine a person becoming a success who doesn't give this game of life everything he's got." Walter Cronkite Team Sunshine
