22 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2016 | Chorale After a summer hiatus, the Chorale of Sun Lakes came together last month to begin practicing for our annual Holiday Concert Series on Dec. 2, 3, and 4. Hugging, laughing, and story-telling began our first rehearsal, but we soon got down to business. President Dorothy Lewis welcomed returning members and introduced new ones to the assembled group. She also introduced our officers: Vice-President Jim Searcy; Secretary Peggy Huetten; Treasurer Donna Kissling; Librarian Toni Read Suydam; and our new Tenor/Bass/Baritone Section Leader, Bob Burgan. Director Bill Kliewer put us through warm-up breathing exercises to help us re- develop stamina, which many of us had lost during our summer hiatus. If you love music, please join us. We meet every Monday from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Registration costs $20 for the season. The summer brought to our Karaoke gatherings an ever-growing stable of talent, fans and new friends. It never fails to surprise me how good it feels to welcome the holidays ahead with familiar songs sung by our Sun Lakes residents and growing musical family. An Evening of Karaoke with Barb, Rosie and D.J. Blast extends the welcome mat for those of you who have not stepped forward and joined the ever growing fans of those who come to sing a song and those who come to dance or even just watch. In just the past six months we have had the pleasure of enjoying the voices of Patsy and Sassy Oliveras, Becky Delair, Jim Sharkey, Gino DeMonico, Wayne and Dorothy Bowen, John Reese, Bill Hobbs, Lee and Michael Stone, Al Jaszcar, Dave Herman, Candi Christopher, Bill and Shirley McDonald, Valerie Hubbard, Gary Reynolds, The Radio Flyers, Bob Palmer, The Marvelettes, Ron Rader, Marty Mangen, Kharl Jacobus, Glenn and Nona Bradd, Herm Colton, Richard Amos, Shiela and Larry James not to mention all the wonderful folks who attended to just watch, dance or mingle with friends like Bill and Judy Cadman, Hermin and Thelma Jameliano, Alma Gleason, Donna Amos, Beverly Bly, David and Nona Waterson, Mike and Nancy Simon, Sandy and Craig Wilson, Patti Brickner, Stephanie and Jerry Franklin and many others that we would like to thank in this and future articles of An Evening of Karaoke with Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls and D.J. Blast. Whether you want to sing the great standards of yesteryear like Stardust or Moonglow,or possibly you would rather sing country classics like Crazy or I Walk The Line, or more contemporary sounds like Pontoon or Uptown Funk, our karaoke microphones are open to you. Mark your calendar for our next Karaoke gatherings. In October we begin our dates with Fri., Oct. 14 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom followed by Fri., Oct. 28 in the South Clubhouse. All of our dates are from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. So join Barb, Rosie and D.J. Blast for An Evening of Karaoke at one of our Sun Lakes clubhouses. We'll keep a mic on for you.
