This has saved the city three-quarters of a million dollars! • Stopped the practice of having city employees use city cars for personal use without any oversight. As an example, trips to Barstow were accepted without comment. • Helped develop standard criteria and standard application procedures for groups requesting funds from the city for special functions. • Worked to get City Hall open five days a week to help people pay their bills and give our city a more professional attitude. • Worked to get the Police Station open all day for public entry. Previously it was closed to the public. • Helped returning zoning of homes to residential that were zoned to commercial for the planned construction of the sludge plant. • Proposed the increase from three to five minutes of the time speakers can use at Council meetings so the Council can get a better understanding of the residents needs. FINANCIAL • Fought for the Mining tax which brings half a million dollars per year to the city! • Repayment of the oil spill money which has brought more than half a million dollars back to the city! • All bids on contracts brought into the open to obtain lowest price bid! This saved the city two million dollars in the construction of the new electric yard. • Stopped the outrageous severance payments to leaving staff members. Such payments are now in line with other cities. • Initiated the reissue of water and electric bonds at lower interest rates to save the city seven million dollars! • Stopped repeated contracts that could be obtained without open discussion and approval by the Council.
