36 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2016 | Dinner Dance Club We are now into another year of good music and dancing. The club gives dance instructions for both line dancing and couples dances. The dances on Friday evenings are our chance to get together with other nice people, practice all the dances we've learned and have a little fun. If you missed our September introductory lessons and dance you can still come and see what we do. We promise not to embarrass anyone. We have two Country Western Dances this month. The first is on Fri., Oct. 7, and the second is Fri., Oct. 21. Our Friday night dances are in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 7 to 9 pm. Line dance instructions will be held at the South Clubhouse on Mon., Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 7 to 8:30 pm. We are still teaching beginner line dances so you can still come and give it a try. Couples instructions will be held at the South Clubhouse on Tues., Oct. 11, and 25 from 7 to 8 pm. Have questions? Want information? Call Joe or Jean, 769-9148. Country Western Dance Fall will bring a welcome respite from the heat of summer and get us in the mood for some indoor fun! October's dance will be held on Sat., Oct. 22. Doors open at 5:30 pm for the "meet and mingle" and October starts off our "dressy" attire dress code for the fall season. Pull out that special outfit from the back of the closet that's just been waiting for some cooler weather. From 6 to 9:30 pm we'll enjoy the great music of one of our favorite musical groups: Generations. Sign-ups will be received between Oct. 1 and 13 by leaving your checks and sign-up form in the mailbox located on the front gate at 782 Torrey Pines Rd. As always, groups can sign up together and don't forget to indicate your seating preference. We'll do our best to accommodate. What a great fall menu: Starting out with a mixed green salad with rolls and butter. Entree choices are as follows: 1) Three pork shanks with mixed white and wild rice, green onion and mushrooms $23.50; 2) Pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy $21.50. Both entrees are served with fresh haricot vertes with diced onion/real bacon bits and slivered almonds. 3) Vegetarian selection is fettuccini alfredo with broccoli and mushrooms $18.50. Dessert is a yummy coconut lemon bar square. Remember, if you sign up and are unable to attend, you may call Carla at 797-3506 before 3 pm on the day of the dance, and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Come join us for a great evening! The Stardust Dancers 2017 Showcase will be on July 14 and 15 this next year. Director Evelyn Hawkins will be assisted by Mary Huffman, Ginger Burris and Martie Dteggell. Title of the show will be Sun Lakes, Past, Present, and Future. All 37 dancers will be involved. Participation in the 21, 22, 23 Fashion Show, The Follies, Tree Lighting and Activities Day for the Rec Department, and a charity event for our own Animal Rescue group are in the works. We are even preparing our 4th of July presentation. Tickets for the Dec. 15 evening show Young American Christmas are now available. Contact any Stardust dancer. Stardust Dancers International Dancers IDS members continue to receive positive feedback regarding our 2016 Festival of Dances and International Fashion Show, and we are so grateful. We performed for warmly-enthusiastic, sold out audiences in August. For those who have expressed interest in purchasing a DVD of the show, they are available at a cost of $15. You may call our videographer Pat Cassidy at 849-7033, or email him at starbuck4u2@yahoo.com. Never fear, a customary short hiatus following our annual show will not prevent us from guest-performing in the upcoming Sun Lakes Follies, so see you there! If you would like to know more about our group, please call Diane at 769-0286 (Director), Nora at 845-8333 (Flamenco/Filipino), Sussy at 797-3258 (Folkloric), Joan at 769-3978 (Asian), Sarah at 769-1164 (Hawaiian), Merle at 845-9342 (Indian), Donna at 282-1087 (Belly Dance), Rachel at 845-8393 (American).
