I know we will have a great winter season and hope everyone bowls well. I can now tell you who won our summer league. First place went to "All Cities" with Hope Salazar, Fabian Liendo, Gil Leon, and Rick Shanefelt. Second place winners were, "Sweepers Creepers" with Gail Stormes, Marlene Gartman, Larry Stormes and Andy Toro. Two teams tied for Third, they were "Fore Play" with Ken Smelker, Mitzi Taniguchi, Donna Reed, and Ray Roberson and "3 Feathers" with Fred Toro, Beverly Casaga, Bill Casaga ,and Richard Cook. Season High Scores : For the men, Scott Waddell took Season High Scratch Series with a 700, Andy Toro took Season High Scratch Game with a 279, Dan Comerford took High Handicap Series with a 777, and Harry Horde took High Handicap Game with a 304. For the women, Bonnie Greene took Season High Scratch Series with a 539, Maureen Condon took Season High Scratch Game with a 208, Marlene Gartman took High Handicap Series with a 740, and Olivia Leindo took High Handicap Game with a 277. Sun Lakers Monday at Moreno Valley Bowl Our Monday bowling has come to a conclusion for the 10 team, 16 week season. The "Optimists" winners of the first half of the split season bowled against the "Recycled Teens" on Aug. 29 with the overall championship on the line. Ginger Hines, Don Hines, Dottie Lucas, and Jim McCallum took all four points to emerge as the winners of the title! This was also our sweepstakes week and Team one "Spares are Good" took first place with a top score of 2764. This team of Louise Deal, Lil McLean, Tom Kehele, and Bob McLean shot lights out! Bob McLean had the top scratch score of 278. Tom Keheley had high handicap series for men with a fantastic 777! His scratch 255 first game had eight consecutive strikes. And after opening with a split, seven count first frame and a nine count-spare, he strung eight strikes! His teammate and anchorman, Bob McLean, started with four strikes, had nine spares and strung six more strikes for a 278 game! Only Bill Osretkar's 279 topped his game which came way back in the second week of the season! The sweepstakes awards are as follows: TOP TEAMS: First place: Team one "Spares are Good" Louise Deal, Lil McLean, Tom Keheley and Bob McLean, 2764; Second Place: Team 9 "Fabowlus 4" Connie Matty, Ed Sterger, Leslie Sevill, and Tom Tykodi, 2645; Third Place: Team 5 "Go 4 It" Sue Shubert, Mary Lou Peterson, Lee Peterson, and John Shubert, 2642. Women's High Series: Shirley Padick 684, Louise Deal 679, Micki Elsing 678, and Dolores Arterberry 678. Men's High Series: Tom Keheley 777, Tom Tykodi 766, Bob McLean 694, Don Hines 694. Our banquet celebrated together with the Wednesday "HOME AGAIN" league was held Sept. 3 at the North Clubhouse. With special prizes being handed out by our league secretaries, Lil McLean and Connie Matty. We lost a wonderful friend and great lady bowler, as Dianne Everley lost her valiant battle to cancer. GOD bless her and her family. When you hear thunder from the sky this winter, know that Dianne is up there bowling in heaven! Our new winter league will started Sept. 12.
