FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2016 39 Counter Culture Cinema Our first monthly screening, on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 6 pm, is the film The Meddler (USA 2015, 1 hour 40 minutes, English). Here is a brief description from IMDb. com: "An aging widow from New York City follows her daughter to Los Angeles in hopes of starting a new life after her husband passes away." Our second monthly screening, on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 6 pm, is the film Hockney (UK 2014, 1 hour 52 minutes, English). Here is a brief description from IMDb. com: "Hockney sees the charismatic artist take director Randall Wright on an exclusive tour of his archives and into his studio, where he still paints seven days a week. The film, which looks back at Hockney's formative years in the British Pop Art scene and his experience of being a gay man as the AIDS crisis took hold, as well as his years working in California." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. We still have some available but will not be selling them at the Lodge. Our goal is 100% participation for our community. We know we all have a great sense of community and love it here. What a great way to show it! The money from the fundraiser will be put back into the community, to help a local charity, as well as sponsor activities and events for us at Four Seasons Beaumont for free or at minimal cost. The license plate frames are $10 each. We hope you will participate by purchasing and displaying your license plate frame proudly. We all benefit Can you believe it? The happiest time of the year, the holiday season, is fast approaching. Our signature event of the year, our Annual Christmas Gala, has us all abuzz. On Dec. 10 from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm, we will hold our Christmas Gala. The theme is "A Soulful Christmas," and it is going to be spectactular. If you enjoyed the MoTown event, you are going to love "A Soulful Christmas." The entertainment which will "blow you away" is a professional group performing all the classic great songs of the MoTown era. You don't want to miss this. Tickets are $50 each which also includes a delicious dinner and dancing. We sell out fast, so call Shirley Caldwell right away at (951) 769-0014 to get your tickets. Stay tuned. We participated in the Craft Fair on Oct. 15 at the Lodge in the Ballroom. The remainder of the license plate frames and the balance of the tickets for the Christmas Gala were on sale. Hope you took advantage of it. The Fair has always been great, with a vast variety of crafts, foods, and gifts. Hope you all attended. Our birthdays for the month of November are: Brenda Dixon, Les Mays and Daisy Race. Please remember to give them a hug and wish them a happy birthday. We will celebrate at our November meeting. We invite anyone who wants to make a difference in our community to join us at our next meeting on Monday, Nov. 7, at the Lodge in the Game Room at 6 pm. It will be our last meeting of the year and we hope everyone will attend because we will be setting our agenda for the year 2017.
