60 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2016
Racquet Club
October was the first month of the Racquet Club's 2017 membership
year. We held our annual dinner and general membership meeting
and signed up memberships for the 2017 year. With dues of still
just $20 per year, the club remains a better value than the holiday
sales at Kohl's. Membership includes monthly Play Days, usually
with drawing prizes provided by our Court Ambassadors; several
hosted luncheons in conjunction with major professional tennis
championships; the Independence Day Red-Blue team competition;
and more (because sentences like this always end with "more").
Though October was the membership renewal month, new and
rejoining members are welcomed throughout the year.
Speaking of more, once again Padoo Peralta won the Ambassadors'
drawing prize. This time, it was a solar-powered cat light, which
just happened to be wearing the same colored shirt as Padoo. After
enduring Ambassador Howard Nelson's convoluted story about
the cat's relationship to Charlie Tuna, Padoo was honored to take a
glamour photo with her night-glowing feline and the Nelsons.
October was also the last month for the Thursday night doubles
matches arranged by Barbara Miller. She will set up matches in
November if players request her to and keep their commitments, but
in anticipation of the cooling weather and busy holiday calendars,
the matches are definitely off for December.
Weather permitting, however, the monthly Play Days will continue
to be scheduled for the last Saturday of each month, beginning at
8:30 am. The Play Days are open to all residents and their guests.
