| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2016 | 5 This time last year, I focused a portion of my article on "El Nino" and how to prepare for it. Well, we didn't get as much rain as the "experts" expected, but we needed what we got. The tips I mentioned at that time were still important to have done, no matter what Mother Nature decides to do. So, here they are again: • If you have rain gutters, have them checked and cleaned out as needed. • Check your irrigation drainage: Does water flow out onto the curbing/gutters? If not, the system is blocked and should be flushed. • Check the "slope" of the ground near the walls of your home. Does the ground slope "away" from your home? It should unless you've had extensive work done. (All homes when built, were graded for runoff away and towards the street) • Have you had any roof leaks? If not, you are probably in good shape. But consider having a licensed roofing contractor perform an inspection. Your homes are 11+ years old now. (There may be a fee to inspect your roof, so make sure you ask them.) Now that summer is over (its 91 degrees as I pen this) I would like to remind all owners with guests visiting the Lodge, if you are planning on going to the pool, to please "Check-in" your guests at the front desk. There is no pool monitor. This holiday season is going to be really special here at the Lodge. Several projects that should be near completion this month are carpeting and new tile in the Bistro, hallways and back office, brand new energy efficient flat roofs and right after Thanksgiving, the Lodge, garden area gazebo and the main entry will be beautifully decorated with LED lights. Each year, a lot of folks cheerfully give of their time to transform the lodge into a special place to be enjoyed by all. Thank you volunteers! For those of you that are new owners, you'll be delighted at the transformation. Let's also take some time to think about the things everyone should be thankful for: health, family, friends, neighbors and the wonderful community you live in. May you and your loved ones have a peaceful and blessed Thanksgiving holiday! A Message From Your General Manager By Rick Ruth, CCAM
