34 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2016 | From the President – Dave Cometa: By the time you read this letter we will have already crowned our new Club Champion and it will be time for our Fall Banquet, which reminds me, have you got your tickets yet? Wow, were has this year gone? You should have also received your ballots for the election of new club officers, so please be sure to vote. I will not be running next year and ask that if you would like to serve in any position on the Golf Board to please get involved in making this the great club it has always been. I have been seeking out some of our members who are not playing to come out and join with us again on Tuesday's to play golf. You know Jack Benny once said, "Give me golf clubs, fresh air and a beautiful partner, and you can keep the clubs and the fresh air." Well maybe some of the partners I get to play with aren't that beautiful, but they are my partners and neighbors and friends, so let's get back playing. (I'm sure that's what they say about me too) From the Tournament Chair – Addis Scott: You may sign up at our prior Tuesday golf event, or contact the Tournament Committee by email at: hemet4sgc@gmail.com. Our October Game Schedule is: 11/01 - 8 am: Pick Your Team: Best Two Net Scores, Hdc = Average Hdc 11/08 - 8 am: Individual: Better 9 Hole Net Score Front or Back and/or Optional 11/15 - 8 am: Partners (Same Flight): Lowest Net Score Per Hole 11/22 - 8 am: Balanced Mixed Flight Team Scramble : Turkey Shoot (Stableford) (Min. 3-Tee Shots Each) Team Hdc = Average Hdc 11/29 - 8 am: Individual: Best 9 Net Scores and/or Optional Low Net From the Membership Chair – Elliot Yaeger: Prospective new members, if you were thinking about joining our club now would be a great time. Pay your membership dues for 2017 and you can start your membership immediately. Membership dues include memberships in 4 Seasons Golf Club as well as SCGA. The cost of membership for 2017 is $66. New and renewal membership applications can be picked up at The Lodge reception desk. Should you have any questions contact Elliot Yaeger, (951) 223- 3735 or email: ey1611@gmail.com. From the Rules Chair – Tom Johnson When we have abnormal ground conditions on a putting green, like the scars from the fluid leak on hole number one, you may take relief without a penalty stroke when your line of putt goes through the abnormal ground condition. The ball can be lifted and placed at the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole where the abnormal ground condition is not on the line of putt. The nearest point of relief may actually be off the green. You should inform the other players what you are doing and mark the point you are lifting the ball from so that other players can see how the abnormal ground condition interferes with the line of putt. By marking the point you lifted the ball from, you can choose to come back to that point if you choose not to take relief for some reason. This relief applies only when your ball is on the green, and does not apply when you are putting from off the green. WELCOME NEW PLAYERS! We have 2 players Dave Thorne and Graham Moorhouse will not be able to play for a while because of Knee problems. Mike Olinger has injured his ankle and he'll be out for a while. We wish them a quick recovery. They will be missed. DAYS OF PLAY: Come join the fun! We play on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 7:30 am to noon. We invite anyone that would like to learn how to play Pickleball to come on down the fourth Saturday of the month at 8 am for lessons. We know you will have as much fun as we do. Players of all skill levels welcome. If you have any questions call Nancy at (951) 926-5018. Pickleball
