Join us for the last Friendship Club
performance of 2016, "The Music of
the Mills Brothers" on Sun., Nov. 13, at
7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom.
The magic of the legendary Mills
Brothers continues with John Mills,
the son, grandson, and nephew of the
original group's members.
John had been performing with
his father, Donald Mills, who was the
last surviving member of the original
group. After Donald died in 1999 at
the age of 84, John Mills teamed up
on stage with Elmer Hopper, who
had spent 21 years singing with the
renowned Platters.
John and Elmer formed a new incarnation of the Mills Brothers,
presenting a singular re-creation of the same music that has
been universally embraced by audiences since 1922. Singing and
harmonizing in the original keys and musical scores, the new Mills
Brothers encourage their audiences to sing along with familiar
songs like Glow Worm, Yellow Bird, Lazy River, Basin Street Blues,
and many others.
The harmony of their
beautiful voices presents the
original repertoire to a new
millennium of audiences.
You can preview a few of
their songs on the Sun Lakes
website, sunlakescc.com,
under clubs and groups.
Tickets for this show are
