8 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2016 | EPAP ANIMAL RESCUE Our September meeting was awesome! Thanks to Tiffany Hines, Marlene Pirtle, and Sabrina Garcia from San Jacinto Animal Campus. These ladies were very informative on fostering and all aspects referring to pet care. If you are looking to adopt a dog, look no further. Check out channel 97, we have a list of dogs looking for a forever home. Our next meeting is on Nov. 21, at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Linda Dixon. She will be speaking on dog training and behavior issues. I'm sure she will be bringing one or both of her dogs. It's always a great meeting with Linda. You won't want to miss it! Remember the Fall Craft Fair is coming up Nov. 4 and 5. It's not too late to get those donations to Jane Manson. Contact Jane at 845-7833. If you have any old towels or pet items you want to donate to the group call Helen Mattias at 797-0583. Hope to see you all at the November meeting! Info., Sandra Burgon, (909) 855-0226. The Operations Department would like to share some suggestions for safety and security during the evening hours that you can use at your home. You may have noticed that the association keeps a minimal amount of "low wattage" lights ON in the clubhouses after hours while it's dark. These are called "emergency lights" or sometimes referred to as egress lighting. This lighting is required by safety code and is designed to illuminate and identify hallways, stairwells and exits to facilitate a safe and orderly evacuation from a facility. We also use this lighting at Sun Lakes to avoid tripping or injuries if a staff member needs to enter the clubhouses after closing hours. It also gives our patrol officers the opportunity to view any possible unauthorized activity. Residents, you may want to install night lights on stairways and hallways to prevent tripping hazards in the dark. If you are away from home in the evening or out of town, it would appear that someone may be home and discourage any potential burglars from attempting to enter. To prevent outdoor tripping hazards in the evenings, we have ground lights along the clubhouse walkways for safety as well as street lights throughout the community for safety. Keeping your porch light on is a great way to keep yourself and visitors safe when entering and exiting your home. Installing outdoor ground lights or solar lights along exterior pathways leading to and from your home is a great way to prevent tripping hazards as well. We hope you find these tips helpful. ~ Mark Schleiden, Director of Operations FINDING YOUR WAY IN THE DARK Handyman Services Call Today!
