24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | December 2016 | Thoughts for the Month: As 2016 comes to a close, we are mindful of how very quickly it is coming to an end. We find ourselves with that same enthusiasm and we carry it forward. The Team Sunshine focus will continue to be pretty much the same -- to reach out to those in the community who need our assistance. We are grateful for each Team Member who makes this happen. No one does this alone. We are blessed to live in a community that reaches out in a loving and caring spirit. We look forward to 2017 with a renewed purpose to, again, be here in whatever capacity we can for Four Seasons residents. Celebrating 10 Years of Sunshine: On Nov. 10, Team Sunshine gathered to celebrate and honor ten years of service to this community. We invited those who were instrumental in getting us "off the ground." Yes, we made a few missteps but all in all it has been a wonderful ride. We are proud, not only to honor individuals from the early years, but those who continue with the Team Sunshine program. "Thank you" to the community who have supported us in so many ways. And, again, as we end the year 2016, kudos to the Team for a job well done. Celebrations of Life: We have learned recently of the passing of Dawn Miller and Ted O'Hirok. An in-home celebration of life was held on Nov. 5, for Dawn Miller. Our sincere condolences to these families. We often are not aware of all who pass in the Four Seasons community and we wish to express our sympathy to those families as well. Kindness Recognition: Our Kindness Award recipient was not available this month to receive this special recognition. We will present this award in January. Special Team Sunshine Information: We encourage residents to call Margie Culton (951) 491-4058 or Marilyn Rhyne (951) 926-9347 for Team Sunshine information. Our two Co-Chairs can direct you to the individual in Team Sunshine who can help with your concern. Thank you. A good source of information for Team Sunshine is the Caring Connection Card which can be obtained at the front desk in the Lodge. Please stop by and pick up your copy. If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Egan (909) 844-3852. She will send an appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Special Monthly Programs: Our last program meeting of the year was an outstanding success as we were entertained by a Psychic/ Medium. About 120 residents were in attendance. The Program Team has done an outstanding job of presenting interesting and informative programs throughout the year. Our thanks for their efforts. Car Show and the Sweet Shop: Team Sunshine's Activities Team did an outstanding job of manning the Sweet Shop at the Car Show on Oct. 22. The weather was great, the sweets were on the lips of Car Show attendees, and there was plenty of shade to keep a cool group cool. Thanks to this group for a job well done. Vintage Voices Christmas Program: Team Sunshine is honored to be sponsoring the Dec. 11 Vintage Voices Christmas program entitled, "Christmas in the Air". Ross Brunetto's Vintage Voices always has a delightful menu of songs for the Christmas season. We will be serving cookies and dessert items. Beverages will be available as well. Closing Thoughts: "Cherish all your happy moments: they make a fine cushion for old age." Christopher Morley - US author & journalist (1890 - 1957) And may we say before we close, "A Very Merry Christmas to You All!" Team Sunshine
