Pickleball Club
October proved a special Fest month but this year it wasn't a
German event. It was Italian all the way thanks to club members
Frank and Ann DiNucci. Pickleballers gathered at the North
Clubhouse on the 22nd for an evening of food, fellowship and
outstanding entertainment provided by member Jon Reese.
Well over fifty members and friends enjoyed a sumptuous meal
prepared by Frank and Ann, an incomparable feast featuring Frank's
signature dishes: antipasto salads, sausage and meatball pasta and
the trimmings. Thanks to Clarice LaTerra for her delicious garlic
bread! One member noted his gratitude to the whole Italian nation
for inspiring such cuisine. (He was transported in the moment…)
Desserts were provided by members Vickie Huisman, Jackie
Newman, Nancy Ebner and Doug Deans assuring that no one left
hungry. Appetites satiated, the throng settled down for a lovely
evening of music and dancing, courtesy of Jon's mellifluous tones.
Some even believed they were working off dinner. Jon, you are a
professional par excellence!
Club President Royce Newman had opened the festivities with
the mundane details of club business which were highlighted by the
introduction of about two dozen new members and guests. Pickleball
is truly alive and well at Sun Lakes. We encourage all residents who
are interested in some healthy aerobic exercise on a small court
to come out and try our game. Club times are 8 to10 am Monday,
Wednesday and Saturday with many other play times during the
week. Equipment is always available for beginners.
If you have questions about all things Pickle, call Royce Newman
at 769-1103 or Hank Huisman at (712) 540-0864. See you on the
courts!
