Even though we have a full schedule for December, we will try to make it as relaxing and enjoyable as we can. Our one Country Western dance will be our traditional Holiday Dance on Mon., Dec. 12, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 7 pm. Monday?!? Yes, a Monday. We know this is an unusual day but it was the best we could get. We are making this a FREE dance to encourage you to come. We will make this a relaxing event so you can enjoy some holiday music and good company along with some festive decorations. Line dance instruction will only be Mon., Dec. 5, from 7 to 8:30 pm at the South Clubhouse. There is no couples dance instruction this month. Finally, we will have our 17th annual New Year's Eve Dance, Dec. 31. So, if you're one of the lucky ones, remember to come and join your friends for an evening of fun, dancing and entertainment with a full catered dinner. We will celebrate a Denver New Year with a champagne toast and a lot of noise. This year we are again at the North Clubhouse, 7:30 to 11 pm. We may have a few openings so if you're interested call Joe or Jean at 769-9148. Country Western Dance The Christmas season is so special… It seems everyone is anxious to ring in the holidays and spirits are high. December's dance will be Sat., Dec. 17. Doors open at 5:30 pm for meet and mingle with dinner served at 6 pm. This month is formal so don those fancy duds and come dance away the night with that great band, The Sophisticats. We'll start the meal with a cup of red pepper soup and rolls with butter. Entrée choices for this month are: 1) Fresh Alaskan grilled salmon topped with lemon butter $28.75; 2) Top sirloin (all cooked medium) $29.95; both will be served with a baked potato with butter/ sour cream/chives and chef 's choice veggies; 3) The vegetarian choice this month is rigatoni with primavera/tomatoes/carrots topped with Parmesan cheese $19. Dessert this month will be something really yummy! Sign ups will be available from Dec. 1 to Dec. 8 by leaving your checks and sign-up form in the box located on the front gate at 782 Torrey Pines Road. As always, groups may sign up together and don't forget to request your favorite table. We'll try our best to accommodate your request if possible. If you sign up and are unable to attend, please call Carla at 797-3506 before 3 pm on the day of the dance, and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Come join us for another great evening at Sun Lakes. The Stardust Dancers will be performing at the Christmas Tree lighting social in the Ballroom on Dec. 1. They will do their signature piece "One," and show some great Holiday Fashions from the Modeling Class. These ladies are so inspiring. They range in age from the 60s to the 90s. Many have been members for over 18 years. Safety is the number one concern of the choreographer. Many of the numbers are just fun numbers that require no past dancing experience. The harder numbers take a little time to learn, but most of the group work very hard to get the timing and presentation down. If you would like to stay in shape, get some fun exercise, and enjoy the association of being with a lot of very nice ladies who like to dance, give me a call, or ask any member to answer your questions.
