68 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2016 | Audrey Arlene Holm October 17, 1924 - October 10, 2016. Audrey was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota as a toddler. As a young adult she attended the University of Minnesota. After college Audrey and her older sister Beverly went to work in Washington, D.C. then moved to Chicago, Illinois. She didn't care for the windy city, so she returned home to St. Paul. In 1948 Audrey and her parents took Route 66 to California to vacation with her two sisters who were married and living in Los Angeles. This is where Audrey met, fell in love and later married Harold Leroy Holm. Audrey and Harold had one daughter and resided in Orange County for many years. Audrey loved the arts and was an accomplished painter - oil/acrylic/watercolor. She attended Cypress and Goldenwest College taking many art classes which included sculpting and bronzing. Both Audrey and Harold loved traveling and social gatherings with friends and family. Harold passed away in 1985. Audrey moved to Sun Lakes in May 2001. She enjoyed all the activities and amenities Sun Lakes had to offer, especially all the great friendships she made. Audrey passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is missed dearly by her family and friends. Audrey is survived by her daughter Gay Brockmann (Gayle), son-in-law Tim, granddaughter Heather, her sister Mary Jane Hodgin of San Marcos and many nieces and nephews. Garry L. Myrdahl Born September 17, 1945, Garry passed away at his home in Sun Lakes at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife Vivian, four children, daughter Michelle, Ron (Heather), David (Katie) and Steven (Mindy). Garry is also survived by his six grandchildren, Nicky, Jacob, Matthew, Joshua, Amelia and Allison. Garry was always seen walking his beloved dog Lucy, throughout the community. Garry was born at St Lukes Hospital in Pasadena, CA and grew up in El Monte, Ca. He graduated from El Monte High School. He met his wife Vivian when she was 15 and he 16, they married in 1967 the age of 21. They have been together for 49 years. They both attend Beauty College and opened their own hair salon in Arcadia in 1973. Garry was honored with an award for his dedication to mentoring many teens when they started sports, whether it be baseball or soccer, you would see Garry always talking to the kids. Many have come back to the hair salon to thank him for what he added to their lives. While walking his beloved dog in the Arcadia Park, if he saw a homeless person he would stop, talk and helped as much as he could. Garry always gave so much of his life to his family, friends and strangers. When their children were out on their own they both decided to move to Sun Lakes. Garry always wanted to live in a golf course community. Garry immediately started to participate in many of the golf tournaments and played Bocce. Garry was also on the Maintenance and Landscape Committee. He loved semi-retirement but it was short lived. Garry passed away on November 7, 2016 at 7 pm of stage 4 bone cancer.
