| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2017 | 27 Musician's Jam Are you a musician, ex- musician, music student, friend or fan of a musician? Then you are invited to join us for a casual, open mic type music jam session. Our first three Sundays in 2017 are Jan. 8, Feb. 5 and March 5, from 3:30 to 6 pm in the North Clubhouse. We look forward to meeting more of Sun Lakes talented musicians. Feel free to come and observe the fun until you feel comfortable to play. We are hoping that this year more of you will get together to jam on a song or two. You can also come by and chat with us at the Annual Sun Lakes Activities Day on Jan. 14, 9 am to noon, in the Ballroom. Hosts Lee and Michael Stone provide a professional sound system, including three mics and stands and a CD player. You, the performer, supply your own instrument and backing track music on CD, if needed. Please sign up when you arrive as performers will play in that order. Depending on how many folks sign up you may each be able to play two to three songs of your choice. Our goal is to provide a supportive venue for you to play, at whatever level you may be at this moment. Singers have karaoke – now you musicians have Musician's Jam. (Singers welcome – bring your own backing tracks or musician to play for you.) Makua Hula group has been teaching hula lessons for free in Sun Lakes for about 15 years. We are starting a beginners class now. It is a good time for you to start from the beginning learning the beautiful Hawaiian dances. If you would like to become part of our group, and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian and Tahitian dances that we present, please contact Olga Marquette at (951) 846-3579. It is fun and good exercise. We meet on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 noon at the North Clubhouse and on Saturdays from 8 to 10 am at the stage in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Aloha!. We are looking forward to a great 2017 with a wonderful Happy Cookers program for the year. We have a new Board in place so we wish them well and are anxious to see what unfolds. January's program will be "Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate," with members bringing delectables to taste. Who knows what one can make from chocolate! You'll just have to come and see for yourself. Don't miss Activities Day on Sat., Jan. 14, 9 am to 12 pm, Main Clubhouse. Happy Cookers will have a booth and can answer any questions about our great club. If you want to see what Happy Cookers is all about, we welcome you to come as a guest to one of our monthly programs. We meet the fourth Friday of the month, in the South Clubhouse at 11 am. If you love to cook, enjoy food sampling, and share your ideas, this is the club for you. Dues are $25 pp and are due January.
