| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2017 | 29 On Jan. 8, the Friendship Club presents Heart and Soul starring Sharon Catherine Brown as Whitney Houston, Sylvia MacCalla as Dionne Warwick, and Kamilah Marshall as Diana Ross. Sharon Catherine Brown starred in A Night With Janis Joplin at the Pasadena Playhouse, and in Broadway Under the Stars - Dreamgirls 35 at the Ford Amphitheatre. She was in Crowns, and Smokey Joe's Café, for which she was nominated for an Ovation Award. Her Broadway credits include Dreamgirls, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Rent. Brown was the first African American woman to star in Jekyll and Hyde. Her film credits include Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, and Sister Act 2. TV credits include A Different World, The Love It Show, and appearances on Dr. Oz, Ellen, The Meredith Vieira Show, and Home & Family. Sylvia MacCalla's career highlights include Broadway hits Rent and Hairspray. She appeared in Ray Charles Live, A Night With Janis Joplin, Beehive, Princess and the Black Eyed Pea, and South Pacific at the Hollywood Bowl. Her TV/Film credits include The Wayne Brady Show, Ellen, The Tonight Show, Scrubs, and Rent. MacCalla is a songwriter, and her recording group Livin Out Loud has enjoyed success for the past 13 years. Kamilah Marshall was recently seen and heard as support for Taylor Swift, including Swift's World Tours of 2013-2015. Since 2003, she has been one of the Staggering Harlettes, singing backup for Bette Midler in The Kiss My Brass World Tour and The Showgirl Must Go On at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Her Broadway credits include Rent, The Lion King, and the original cast of Hairspray The Musical. Marshall appeared on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel, Late Night with David Letterman, Grammy and Tony Awards, Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Oprah, and more. With blues-y, country, and soulful overtones, Marshall also writes and sings from the depths of her spirit. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests.
