| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2017 | 71 Friends we will miss We want to remember your loved ones in the "Friends We Will Miss" section, above, but we need your help. Please be sure to get us the information about their passing. Turn in any obituaries to the Main Clubhouse reception desk or send them electronically to SunLakesNews@yahoo.com Jack Snow, there are many Sun Lakers who knew Jack as an avid golfer and as a man who was always there to help anyone with a need - be it a ride to the doctor, to the store, help moving them in or moving them out. NO was not in Jack's vocabulary and he was not one to ever spend time worrying or complaining. He knew his life was in good hands. Jack passed away on October 20, 2016, he was 92 years "young" as is his wife Marcy. Born and raised in Fulton, Kentucky - a little rascal from some of the remembrances that he shared. He met a sweet, young Marcy Duley, in kindergarten or first grade of school and they hit it off right from the start. People talk about love at first sight but it usually comes at a later time in their lives - not so with Jack and Marcy. They went all through grade and high school together and knew that one day they would marry and raise a family. When graduation came, Jack went off to Duke University in North Carolina and Marcy went off to Judson School for Gentle Women in Alabama. Marcy was gentle but only to a point. Jack and Marcy were still a couple when Jack left school and joined the army at age 17, in World War II, to serve as a paratrooper and working with gliders. He married Marcy when both were nineteen vowing to forever be man and wife until "death do you part" and beyond. They kept that vow and have been married for 73 years - to be continued "beyond." Jack was one of many servicemen to be stationed in Japan the first year of Japan's surrender. On leaving the service, Jack joined the reserves and reached the rank of Major. There were four children born to them: Susan was the first born, but God gave her an immediate calling and was taken to heaven to be with Him there. A difficult time for any parent to lose a child at birth. They were given a gift of three more children: Linda, who was to be taken to join little sister, Susan, after she and husband Richard had raised a son; Janet Lee, she and her husband Steve would raise two daughters; and Jack III and his wife Lynda, raised a son and two daughters. There were six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A beautiful and loving family - one to bring pride to anyone. They moved around a bit, finally reaching Anaheim, CA in 1960. From there they moved to Sun Lakes in 2002 and made many friends, enjoyed all the activities offered and in 2011, moved closer to family because of health issues. He kept up with friends in and out of Sun Lakes, was active in Calvary Chapel Beaumont Church. And I have no doubt that he will have Heaven organized and will be at the Golden Gate, with daughters Susan and Linda to welcome friends and family and show newcomers around. We will miss him but we know we will be together again.
