34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2017 |
Wishing all of you a very happy and healthy 2017. Last month we
celebrated the holidays with our annual luncheon at Johnny Russo's
Italian Restaurant. I am sure all will agree it was a fun afternoon with
good friends and good food.
Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be on Thurs.,
Jan. 19 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. These
meetings are not only educational for you the caregiver, but are also
a support group for you. ALL CAREGIVERS are welcome at these
meetings. You do not have to be caring for a person with memory
loss to attend. We are here to support and educate you, plus entertain
your loved one while you are attending the meeting. No guest speaker
this month. Enjoy sharing all your experiences. We learn so much
from each other. During this meeting your loved one is welcome
in the Arts and Craft Room for games, exercises and an hour of live
entertainment. This month Valerie Hubbard will be entertaining.
If you have any questions and would like to learn more about
memory loss, we have reading material we can loan you. Call Diane,
769-0130, Anne, 845-8700, or Joanie 769-1386 Remember, we are
here to help.
I have decided to repeat Know the 10 Signs from the Alzheimer's
Association. Early detection matters.
Sign #1: MEMORY LOSS THAT DISRUPTS DAILY LIFE. One of
the most common signs of Alzheimer's especially in the early stages,
is forgetting recently learned information. Others include forgetting
important dates or events; asking for the same information over and
over and increasingly needing to rely on memory aids (e.g., reminder
notes or electronic devices) or family members for things they used
to handle on their own.
