38 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2017 | Dinner Dance Club With the holidays behind us, and all those extra pounds that snuck up on our hips, it seems like a good time to get out on the dance floor and burn up some calories. Why not join us at this month's Dinner Dance Club and have fun while you get some exercise? This month's dance is Sat., Jan. 21. Doors open at 5:30 pm for meet and mingle with dinner served at 6:30 pm. Touch of Class will provide the evening's entertainment and attire for the evening is dressy. January's menu is as follows: we'll start the evening with a dinner salad with mandarin oranges, cucumbers and candied pecans. Entrée choices are: 1) Three pork shanks with mixed white and wild rice with green onion and mushrooms, $23.50; 2) Pot roast with gravy accompanied by mashed potatoes, $21.50; Both entrées are served with broccoli with onion butter sauce; 3) Vegetarian choice is fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and mushrooms $18.50; dessert will be delicious cheesecake topped with cherries. Sign ups will be received between Jan. 1 and 13 by leaving your checks and sign-up forms in the mailbox located on the front gate at 782 Torrey Pines Road. Sign up with a group or individually; don't forget to indicate your seating preference… we'll try our best to accommodate you. Remember, if you sign up and are unable to attend, call Carla at 797-3506 before 3 pm on the day of the dance, and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Start the New Year out right by enjoying a fun evening with friends … see you on the 21st! Thanks to all who attended and supported our Tommy Bahama Fashion Show to raise funds for our EPAP Animal Rescue Program. It was so much fun, and enabled us to donate $1,533 to the program. We appreciated the hoots and claps received. The audience response is needed for entertainers. The Tommy Bahama Staff was great, and the Notables enhanced our entire program. The men and women who modeled were fantastic. Didn't know we had so many "hotties" in our community. Tammy Anderson acquired the 40 raffle prizes that provided the funds donated. The performers worked hard year round, which attests to the success of this show. Anyone interested in the modeling class are welcome to join. We hope you enjoyed 2016 and that 2017 will bring all your hearts desire. 2016 was an excellent year for IDS by every measure, and we anticipate more of the same in the new year. Speaking of excellence, we acknowledge and thank Diane Avina for leading our group in 2016 and Donna Kissling for agreeing to do so in 2017. We enjoy dancing, and that is our main focus, but we are so much more. If you would like to join our merry band, there is no time like the present. Annual dues are $30.
