| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2017 | 57 Pickleball Club This article will appear in our January, 2017 Lifestyles and is a will inform all club members of important business as the new year begins. First and foremost, though, is the need to express the club's gratitude to our outgoing officers. President Royce Newman, VP Hank Huisman and Secretary/Treasurer Les Ebner have been stalwarts all year! We have enjoyed much growth for our club and a lot of credit is due these three leaders in publicizing our sport and, especially, being great ambassadors to new Sun Lakes residents. And they know how to throw great parties! Thanks, men, for all you've done. Club by-laws specify that election of officers will occur in January and to that end we invite all members to plan to attend the meeting scheduled for Sat., Jan. 14 following play that morning at 10:30 am. It will be held in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. In addition to the annual election of officers there will be some other agenda items and the chance to raise concerns by any members. One final matter of club business: please remember to get your $10 annual dues to one of the current officers as soon as possible if you haven't already done so. There may be no bigger bargain in Sun Lakes inasmuch as dues-paying members get some great perks, including a real bargain at formal club dinner parties. Speaking of parties, we would be remiss if we failed to acknowledge the great work of many club members in recent years in planning and putting on both formal and informal parties, potlucks and tournaments. You are too numerous to mention here, but all of us know who you are. Thank you all! We look forward to the new year, anticipating great things for our sport. It is a source of terrific exercise and, more importantly, great camaraderie. It is a great co-ed game that brings family members young and old together for fun with a bit of competition. If you haven't tried Pickleball yet, we encourage you to come out on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 8 am to see how it is done. See you on the courts!
