56 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2017 Happy New Year! There is a good chance we all have made at least one New Year's resolution. Don't forget your pets when thinking about setting important goals for 2017. Here are some great suggestions: 1. Vow to provide your dog with the highest quality nutrition possible. 2. Make it a point to ensure your dog's health through providing adequate and appropriate exercise. 3. Be realistic about your dog's weight. If you can't feel your dog's ribs easily, he is too fat. 4. Train your dog. Training is not a luxury, it is a necessity. 5. Play with your dog: training, tug, fetch, food dispensing toys, nose work games and exercises, social time with other dogs. 6. Keep your dog well-groomed and maintained. 7. Vow not to get mad at your dog for your management failures. 8. Be appreciative of how wonderful your dog is. Look for desirable behaviors and reinforce them with something your pup likes. Never miss an opportunity to thank your dog for good behavior. 9. Make time for your dog. 10. Be a responsible dog parent – keep I.D. tags on your dog, renew licensing, make the annual veterinary appointment, clean up after your dog, respect leash laws and community rules. 11. Keep learning and improving as a pet parent. Join and become active in Four Seasons D.O.G. We can help you with the 'why' and 'how' of any or all of your resolutions! Our next meeting will be at 6 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 18 in Room 3 of Rec Center North. Come hear about our plans for 2017 and join the fun! These petite girls are all 10-years-old and lived most of their lives in Pasadena. They love people and hanging out with other fur kids. Their best friend is Annie, the big dog across the street. Darby is loving, JJ makes her presence known wherever she goes, and Stella is friendly (just ask any dog at the dog park). This cuddly threesome has D.O.G. members, Cathy Thomas and Vivian Walker, as their loving pup parents! ~ Martha Baumgarten
