FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2017 43 Looking back at 2016, our classes had a fun time with a few extra sock hops and a great year-end party. We will be having three or four free sock hops in 2017. Our class has grown a lot this past year and most of the time we have close to thirty dancers each week. We are looking forward to the Ballroom remodel and a larger dance floor. This month, we might have to make some adjustments due to the new flooring schedule. Watch your email for change notices or call me if you are new. The New Year is here and most of us have vowed to get more exercise or lose weight or both. Line dancing is a fun way to get exercise and it is also good for your mind. Learning new steps can be challenging, but it makes us concentrate and remember. I like to try to accommodate all new dancers, but as the classes have grown, I have found it harder to teach new dancers and give them the time it requires to help them learn. So, I am going to try something new. Starting in January, I will teach a very beginners class every other month from 2:30 to 3 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. You must attend the first class in order to complete the month. If you cannot attend the first class, you have to wait until the next class (in this case March) before starting. This allows all new students to start at the same time and gives Terry and me the ability to teach everyone at the same level and work on the basic steps. Usually after a month most students can move to the general beginners class. I volunteer my time to teach line dancing, but I do ask for a one- dollar donation each week per person, which goes to our year-end party. I am also going to start keeping track of who attends classes each week. There will be a simple check-in sheet on the table for you to simply mark an "X" if you are there that week. I am looking forward to a busy, fun year and would love to have you join me. Please remember to be on time, wear comfortable shoes that you can dance in and bring water with you to class. We meet on Tuesdays. During Ballroom construction, a different location will be determined. Very Beginners: 2:30-3 pm; Beginners: 3-3:45 pm; and advanced 3:45-4:30 pm. Give yourself a new challenge, and come out to dance with us. We meet Wednesdays at 4 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. While construction is going on, a new location will be found. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. All dances are broken down into eight counts to make remembering a little easier. We have fun while we exercise. A great big thank you to the dancers who participated at the Beaumont/ Cherry Valley Recreation and Parks District's 24th Annual Winterfest at the Grange on Dec. 2 and 3. We were cold one day, and hot the next day, but we got through it and had fun. Upcoming Workshop: Sunday, Feb. 12, 2 to 6 pm. More details will be given out in class. For more information, please contract Priscilla Robles at (909) 239- 6464. See you on the dance floor. ~ Prisicilla Robles Everyone takes a break from dancing for a group shot The Heart & Soul Line Dancers at the 2016 Winterfest
