Meet Jane Pearce… Jane, who is 95-years-old, was born in Portland, Oregon in 1921. Her family moved to California when Jane was two years of age. She married her husband, Alfred in 1942. During World War II, Alfred was in the Navy stationed out of Baltimore, Maryland, and shipped off to the Fiji Islands. Jane stayed in Baltimore for the two years while Alfred was away and worked at the "Ration Board" rationing sugar and gas. When Alfred returned, they settled in Englewood, California where he was a builder. Jane was a homemaker taking care of her four daughters and assisting in the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Jane had lived in Englewood and Arcadia before moving to Hemet in 1957. Along with their daughters, Jane and Alfred began raising horses in Arcadia. While in Hemet, they lived on a 20-acre ranch with sheep, pigs, horses, and milk cows. Jane and Alfred moved into The Four Seasons thirteen years ago. Shortly after moving in, Alfred passed away. Jane recalls that her good neighbors (Gary and Colleen Rosenberger and Zbigniew and Beverly Markowicz) helped her through her grief by taking her to shows and cooking meals for her. Jane has participated in various activities here at the Four Seasons. They include Line Dancing, Jewelry Classes, Widows' Group, Healthy Living Club, and various exercise classes. Jane was asked what her secret was to a long life. Jane noted that there is longevity in her family, but has always been health minded. She said she always eats sugar in moderation and exercises… and smiles and laughs a lot! She loves The Four Seasons and the happy, friendly, positive people she has met throughout the years. Thank you, Jane for sharing your history and your advice for living a long, productive life. Meet Jane Pearce
