24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | January 2017 | Thoughts for the Month: We say a resounding "Happy New Year" to our fabulous Four Seasons community. Celebrating 10 Years of Sunshine: The gals who put the Ballroom in tip-top shape for our grand celebration. Thank you (back row): Jackie Peterson, Christine Sullivan, Brenda Beers, Jeanne Lincoln, Karen Hikel and Donna McLaughlin. Our Co-Chairs: Marilyn Rhyne and Margie Culton. Our Special Honored Guests: Marilyn Rhyne (Co-Chair/ Sunshine), Donna Holland, Colleen Rosenberger, Ginny Cole-Weaver, Meleny Piotrowski, Jennifer Trebler, Charlotte Townend, Laurie Scott, Frances Borras; Claudette Gilbert and Margie Culton (Co-Chair/ Team Sunshine). Not pictured: Ann Oxley; Cookie Scott and Fran Spina. The celebration of 10 years was a superb way of saying, "We've been here a long time and our focus will continue to be SOS (Serving Our Seniors)." Our very first "Volunteer of the Year" Award was presented to Jeanne Lincoln for ten years plus of serving the Team. Celebrations of Life: We were sad to learn of the passing of Terry Hughes. Terry was a long-time resident of Four Seasons and will be greatly missed. Our sincere condolences to other families who have suffered loss. We often are not aware of all who pass in the Four Seasons community and we wish to express our sympathy to those families as well. Special Thank Yous: Dave and Bev Habig (left) are Sunshiners who continue to serve in a number of ways. Bev helps with sending cards to those who need a little cheer, etc. Dave is most often in the background manning a camera or creating video presentations. The activity seems effortless for this duo. They take what they do very seriously – and it shows. Many thanks for their dedication. This duo (right) continues to serve the needs of residents and especially Team Sunshine as we put together our plans for Celebrations of Life. Their hard work and dedication to making sure our needs are met deserves special attention. Thank you Janet and Jimmie for always ensuring that we have what we need. Your service to the community is much appreciated and we just want you to know. Thanks for a job well done – for so many years. We would be remiss if we did not formally recognize the efforts of all Sunshiners. They make it happen! Whatever the task, it gets done and so very well. 2016 has been a busy year for Team Sunshine. Their dedication is so very much appreciated. Thank you, Team Sunshine! Kindness Recognition: A Kindness Award will be presented at our Jan. 9 meeting and will be posted in the February Herald. Please start the New Year with filling out a Kindness Card for someone who has made a special effort to make someone's day a bit happier. Special Team Sunshine Information: We encourage residents to call Margie Culton (491-4058) or Marilyn Rhyne (926-9347) for Team Sunshine information. Our two Co-Chairs can direct you to the team member who can help with your concern. Thank you. A good source of information for Team Sunshine is the Caring Connection Card which can be obtained at the front desk in the lodge. Please stop by and pick up your copy. If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Egan (909) 844-3852). She will send an appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a follow-up call. Special Monthly Programs: We are honored again to present our annual nonagenarian (90+) birthday celebration on Jan. 18 at 3 pm. There will be a birthday cake, balloons, a special presentation by Andrea Burgan of Critter Encounters and more. The program will be about laughter, love and honoring those who have reached this amazing milestone. Please plan to join us. Closing Thoughts: "One kind word can warm three winter months." ~ Japanese proverb And a very happy New Year! Team Sunshine
