FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2017 53 Our fun group of women billiards players began its second year on Jan. 2, and we had a great turnout (although some of the members were still vacationing). It's always fun to watch how these amazing ladies are honing their individual skills. They are getting more proficient week by week. It's always wonderful to see the more experienced players help the newest members as well. All are diligent in practicing during the week, and the practice is sure paying off! On Jan. 9 we took updated photos of the group for the new framed photo to be placed in the Billiards Room, and we have Erik Zarr to thank for taking the photos. Also, a really big thank you goes to Dave Martin who photoshopped out all our perceived flaws, so the group photo is professionally amazing. Come check out the photo in the Billiards Room or on the TV monitor next to the movie theater. Ladies, it'll make you want to come join us. On Jan. 30, the Curly Cues squared their shoulders and challenged the Billiards for Fun Group in the first-ever tournament. It was a lot of fun watching the interaction and camaraderie between the groups. However, the winners won't be announced until the March issue of the Breeze. Feb. 6 marks the first in-house tournament of the new year, so the women in the group are getting ready to be the first two partnerships to have their names on the new plaque. Again, winners will be announced in the March issue of the Breeze. Beginning Feb. 13 through the end of the month, we will all be learning the pool game 1/15. Since this is the game that the Hemet Oldlympics plays in their tournaments, and since we hope that several Four Seasons women will be representing us in the tournament, we will be playing this game periodically during the year. In March, we will learn the game of 9-ball, and hope that with their new repertoire these ladies will be more apt to challenge their husbands, friends, etc. If you have always wanted to play billiards (pool), and have never learned, or you want to dust off your billiards skills, please come by the billiards room any Monday between 1 and 3 pm and we will begin teaching you that day, or will set a mutually convenient time for you to learn. It's a great group and we always have a really fun time. Hope to see you soon. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine Curly Cues Verina Rector sets up her shot, while Leta Ramirez, Sharon Bond and Barbara Morton look on A typical day of Curly Cues playing billiards
