| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2017 | 51 Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes It has been crazy the last few months. Now that the election is over and the holidays are passed maybe we can concentrate on what is really important in our lives, bowling! I think we have all been just a little bit distracted by the events happening around us lately. Now lets focus on the fundamentals of our sport. A lot of us have picked up some bad habits in our timing or release that we have to change. Small changes, even bad ones can make a big difference in our scores. I for one know it is time to take a lesson or two to clear the cobwebs and get back on track. Below are some scores of those who may have their act together. The three teams at the top of the leader board are: in first place, Killer Keglers, with Mike Galongo, Loren Pitz, Shirley McDonald, and Ed Collatz. In second place and only one half game back is Sweepers Creepers, with Gail Stormes, Marlene Gartman, Larry Stormes, and Andy Toro. In third place and only one game behind first is Water's World with Dolores Arter, John Noonan and Rick Waters. Season High Scores: For the men we have Rick Waters with 783 Scratch Series, Andy Toro with 299 Scratch Game, Jim Ming with 770 High Handicap Series, and Jim McGowan with 302 High Handicap Game. For the women: Sandy Elsworth with 574 Scratch Series, Lakana Burkett with 233 Scratch Game, Mitzi Taniguchi with 725 High Handicap Series, and Marilyn Tefank with 287 High Handicap Game. Quote: "Life is like a mirror. Smile at it and it smiles back at you."- Peace Pilgrim Sun Lakers Monday at Moreno Valley Bowl On Jan. 2 we started the first half of our 32 week split season. The winner already with 45 points is Team 9, "Have A Blessed Day." Congratulations to Celie Castro, Ernie Castro and Luki Deasis. Runner up with 39 points is Team 8, "The Optimists," with Sun Lakes residents Carolyn Gagnon, Bob McEwen, Jerry Campbell and Leo Gagnon. As we enter the second half of the split season, every team has an equal chance once again to win and have a roll off against the first half champs. Good luck to all teams. High scores follow: Women's High Scratch Game: Diane Spence, 204; Celie Castro, 199; Sue Finta, 198. Women's High Scratch Series: Micki Elsing, 575; Sue Sloan, 540; Celie Castro, 518.
