Architectural Committee
Thank you to those who responded… The ARC Town
Hall meeting and the subsequent letters regarding the revised
Architectural Standards and Regulation produced 19 responses.
Of these responses we had seven requests to add or make changes.
Of these requests, five were implemented into the revision. Twelve
were not under the ARC control and instead the Board of Directors
responsibility.
The Revised Architectural Standards & Regulations
If you are contemplating making charges to your landscape or
home exterior, please read the revised Standards & Regulations. If
you have any questions concerning these, please talk to Michelle
Restle at the Lodge or contact any member of the ARC.
The reason we were asked to review the guidelines was because
of the drought problem. There weren't any regulations regarding
removal of grass and installation of rock or other ground covers. In
addition to this problem, there were several lessons we learned from
what works and does not work in our (Hemet) climate and ground
conditions. We took a year to review the document, held 14 special
meetings in addition to our regular two meetings each month, made
15 rewrites and talked to several residences about their applications
to make a change to their landscape. Before the drought, we were
receiving up to 10 changes a month. Now we are averaging 25 to 30
changes per month. We all have different ideas for the landscaping
around our homes, thus we had to balance what can be done to
meet the drought conditions and still maintain a beautiful, green
appearance to our community.
Landscaping Projects that were approved by the ARC
If you had your landscaping or other home alterations/changes
approved by the ARC under previous guidelines or regulations, they
are okay and you do not have to change them. If you added to those
plans or made some changes since then without approval, then you
must make another application for those changes.
