FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2017 43 Ballroom & Social Dance Our Spring Fling Dinner Dance will be in the Lodge Ballroom on Saturday, April 22. Doors open at 4 pm, dinner at 5 pm, and dancing throughout the evening to the live music of Skyline Xpress. See the poster in the Lodge for detailed information and tickets. Dancing is one of the healthiest things you can do. For us, it's not just choreographed or robotic steps. It's moving our feet to the beat, using our mental powers, and expressing music – things that improve the quality and longevity of life. And above all, it's great fun! We might do a Latin dance for a few weeks, then the West Coast Swing, a Waltz, a Country Western dance, then the East Coast Swing, a Foxtrot, and maybe just for fun the Cowboy Cha Cha. So we enjoy a nice variety of many dance styles. Our professional instructors provide three easy levels of dance. First is the introduction to dance, from 6 to 6:30 pm. If you've never done social dancing and want to find out what it's about, this is for you. Second is the beginners dance, from 6:30 to 7 pm, which adds more moves and steps. The third is for more advanced dancing, from 7 to 8 pm. Contacts: Puring and Gary Stifter at (951) 922-8333, or at purings@verizon.net. ~ Willis Fagan First of all, a big thank you to Steve and Cindy Schwinn for leading the class while I was gone. It was a big help. There will be another very beginner's class this month from 2:30 to 3 pm each Tuesday. If you have ever wanted to learn to line dance, this is your chance. I teach the basic steps, plus you will learn at least two dances, usually after the first class. If you have taken this class before, but feel you need more help, please repeat the class. There are usually about 10-12 students, so I can give you more assistance than in a larger class. Terry Hall helps instruct as well. The beginner's class at 3 pm is really getting good and learning some more new easy dances. Some are even progressing to the advanced group. We had a sock hop last month and the turn out was terrific. Everyone had a great time. If the ballroom is still available, there will be another free sock hop Friday, March 17. So put on something green, buy your dinner from Smitty's, and bring your own favorite beverage. Everyone is welcome and we try to play a variety of music for you to dance and to enjoy. Please check with the Lodge desk when you come to dance class to see where we might be located. The location may change due to Ballroom construction. Classes are each Tuesday: Very Beginners: 2:30-3 pm; Beginners 3-3:45 pm and Advanced 3:45-4:30 pm. Come join us, meet new people and have some fun. A big thank you to all the Heart and Soul Line Dancers who took time from their busy schedule and danced at our first workshop of 2017. We had a great time learning new dances, and practicing some we already know. An extra big thank you to Tanya Thornton, Deborah Garner, Barbara Wingfield, Minnie Lathrop, and Shirly Caldwell for assisting in set up, serving, and clean up. Ladies, from the bottom of my heart, you are awesome! To the rest of our Four Seasons dancers, if you know of someone who is tired of the treadmill and looking for a fun way to stay fit and healthy, invite them to come and kick up their heels with us and learn how to line dance. Remember that all steps are broken down into easy to follow patterns. It not necessary that you get the entire dance on the first go around, just have to stick to it and it will get easier each time. We really have a great time. Class day/time/location: Wednesday, 4 to 6 pm, in the Ballroom (unless otherwise notified). Wear comfortable shoes (no flip- flops), and bring water. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call me at (951) 922-0755. See you on the dance floor. ~ Prisicilla Robles
