FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2017 49 The sport of pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports nationwide. We, too, are seeing our pickleball family increase here at Four Seasons. The following photos represent players waiting to play a game. One side is for players who won a game, the other side represents players who lost their game. The official pickleball rule is that a team wins after scoring 11 points. However, when we have a large number of players waiting to play as seen in these photos, we reduce the winning score so that players don't have to wait so long for a game. What's the solution for this problem? More courts! If you are fairly new to our sport, please contact us so that you can be included on our phone tree/roster. We are planning to have some future training sessions as we have done in the past and we want to be sure we have current names, emails and phone numbers. Beginners to this sport are encouraged to attend our Thursday session at 1 pm. This is the time to start learning about this game and meet some great people. For further information, please contact Nancy Barnaby, rbarnaby38@verizon.net (951) 845-0842 or Irma Peterson, retiredtcher@gmail.com (951) 845-1068. Keep pickling! ~ Irma Peterson Pickleball Racquet Club Our latest Play Day had a miniscule turnout. A mere half dozen weather-immune players showed up to attempt to play in gale-force winds. But, because they were out of bed and dressed for tennis (sort of ), everybody played at least for a while. The less intrepid folks gave up trying to figure out where the tennis ball was going to land in a sideways gust of wind, and retreated to Smitty's for another breakfast burrito. The rest of the group played on until everyone's comb-over was blasted to the west by the easterly winds. Ah, Blowmont and the Breeze. Having been rained out one month and blown out the next, in the absence of locusts and other pestilence, we will gather again for open tennis play on the last Saturday of the month. Please come on out. It's a blast! Check out www.fsbrc.org. ~ Steve Hovey Pickleball paddles represent players waiting for court time
