14 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2017 | We have great news! Three new library members have been approved by the Board of Directors. With vacations, health problems and out of town company, we just needed more help. Please welcome Anita Decker, Julie Kreun and Bernadette Koretke. When you see the new faces please say hello. After our friend, Hal Townend was elected to the BOD, I was left alone in the library. I formed a library committee in 2008. Those who were part of the 2008 group and are still with the committee are; Blair Becker, Rosemary Luscombe and Char Weakley. I believe Rosemary was our secretary for eight years. We have added Lis Woelke, Kay Masonbrink, Betty Crase, Betty Barr and our new secretary, Sue Corum. Many wonderful people have been with us and moved on. We need Blair as our only male to keep us in line! A wonderful group. Isn't it a great time of year to be reading a good book? The activity in the library lately has been unbelievable! One committee member can work for an hour bringing things to order and in a couple of hours another member will work another hour shelving and straightening. Actually, it is not uncommon for three of us to work the library in one day… and, we love it. Please don't try to help us by putting away your books. That's our job. Enjoy the books and put them in our return basket. In my last article I asked for more non-fiction books as we had extra room on the top shelves. We keep all non- fiction regardless of the year of publication. Our residents support their library completely. It's almost "ask and ye shall receive." Thank you so much. Many current hardbound and paperback books have been donated. Hardbound books are displayed from 2005 and up. Our paperback books are displayed from 2012 up. If your books are out of date please still bring them as we will donate those to the Hemet Library. We work hard to keep our displayed magazines current. Please only put magazines dated within the last three months. As of now we are displaying magazines dated January, February, and March 2017. We prefer you to place magazines on the return table and don't put them in our rack. We will take outdated magazines to the Hemet Library as well. The only exception would be National Geographic magazines. Their articles are not time sensitive and the topics are of interest to all. Keep reading! Committee member Cookie read; Trust No One by Jayne Ann Krentz. Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner heads to the mountains for a 25 mile run after an argument with husband Jeff. She never returns. By the time her husband reports her missing the trail was cold. A winter storm then made it impossible to search for her. The police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce" but will continue their search when the weather clears. While Dr. Emory is jogging she hears a rustling sound behind her. Then, sky rockets of pain explode in her head. When she finally comes around she has an unexplained head injury and is in a strange cabin with a tall handsome man who refuses to divulge his identity. She is determined to escape but there is no way to get down the icy mountain road. A neighbor living up the mountain comes for help for his very ill sister. Emory and "her captor" have a dangerous encounter with the mountain man. Who tried to kill her and who is this man helping her? There is some violence throughout the book but it will hold your interest. It is a book about love, deceit and filled with suspense. Many twists and turns. Library Committee Landscape Committee The second phase of the landscape plan to refurbish Four Seasons Blvd. from World Cup through the front gate should commence shortly. This project once completed will have covered Four Seasons Blvd. in its entirety. From time to time homeowners are requesting tree removals, especially now that many of the trees originally planted by the developer have matured. The Landscape Committee has a tree removal policy that has been in effect for some time. It is that policy we apply as we make decisions on a request for removal. The Tree Removal Policy is as follows: 1) Safety - The tree poses a safety or potential safety issue. 2) Hazard - The tree is a hazard or is a potential hazard to pedestrian traffic or vehicle traffic. 3) Structure - The tree is damaging a structure or is a potential threat to do structural damage. 4) Tree Health - The tree health is in question and all attempts to resolve the health issue have failed. Requests for a tree removal "because it is messy" will generally be denied. We need to remember trees add beauty to our entire community and only on rare occasions will the committee approve a removal. We continue to appreciate our landscape crew and the service Artistic is providing our community. We constantly get compliments from homeowners pertaining to the good job they do. Should you have any issues regarding landscape large or small, please contact Michelle Restle at the Lodge. She will be happy to help resolve your problem in a timely manner. As always, any homeowner is more than welcome to attend our meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 1 pm.
