28 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2017 | Art Group The Gallery Wall and display case has been going strong, displaying only our residents art works for four years now. The Gallery is such a success that it is booked full every month until January 2018. We are trying something new next year. We will have a themed show for January/February 2018. That theme will be animals. Any resident who has created an original piece of art that has an animal on, in or represents an animal can display their work. More details to come. Thank you to all of our very talented artists and committed volunteers for turning a hallway into an art gallery. This month is The Student Art Show, that has works from our residents that have taken a class here in the Art Room at Four Seasons. Some of the works are from those who have just begun taking a class to those who commit themselves to talking a class every week. The Gallery showcases how much talent we have here in the community. Some of those showing in the March/April show are Sherry Hutson, Carl Kreun, Esther Feigenbaum, Rosemary Garrison, Paul Barr, Nancy Hawkins, Margo Dennis, Karen Johnson, Mary Davila, Dennis Bovee and Stella Torres. Weekly art classes, once a month classes and special one time art classes are offered for you to learn, create and then display your art. The Fine Art Show: Sat., March 11, 11 am - 3 pm, in the Ballroom. There will be drawings for gifts and refreshments will be served. There is still time to sign up to place your original fine art to sell in the show. Tables are $10 each. This has been a show that we have had held for many years and is another way to showcase our residents fine art works. Stop by and talk with the artists, shop and have a cookie. If you want to volunteer to help that day and enjoy the fun, sign up in the Art Room. Here are some of the artists planning on showing their works: Mike Yeager, Earl Mcneese, Gerald Gould, Andre Lohnert, Myrna Schmidt, Carl Kreun, Vicki Allen-Hitt, Lois Stipp and Jackie Hansen. Paint Night: Tues., March 14 at 6:30 pm, Lois Stipp, instructor. Fee. All supplies provided, just bring your own refreshment and an appetizer to share. Fun night for all and take home a completed painting. Demo: Wed., April 5, at 2 pm, A Gourd Carving Demonstration, by Patrick Sweeney. Pat Sweeney is still new to our community and we are happy to have him want to share his gourd carving experience with us. He will discuss techniques and tips for carving and burning designs on gourds. Examples of his works will be on display to enjoy. Sharon Weissmann, also a gourd carver, will assist him. There is a sign-up sheet in the Art Room, so sign up soon because space is limited. Mr. Sweeney would also teach the craft if there is enough interest. Take Away Art Workshop: Mon., April 10, from 3 - 6 pm, in the Art Room, Vicki Allen-Hitt. This workshop will be on how to create Alcohol Inks. You will create your own art on tile and metal that will be yours to take home. Vicki had her finished artwork using this alcohol ink technique on display in our gallery last month. All supplies will be furnished. Fee. Sign-up sheet in the Art Room. Art Trip!
