| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2017 | 29 Residents Enjoy Being Artists Royce's Paint Class (L-R) Royce, Margo Dennis, Dennis Bovee, Mary Davila, Stella Torres Paint Night participants show off their tulips By Chris Pounders Born in Lynwood, California, Kevin is the eldest of four children. He has two daughters and two grandchildren with another on the way. He is married to Roxy, who is presently teaching elementary school in Hemet. Kevin's father was Duke Snider, a famous baseball player in the 1940s and 50s, who, Kevin says, was the most influential person in his life. Hall of Famer, Duke Snider, led the Major Leagues in the most home runs and RBIs in the 1950s and played for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. Kevin was able to meet such famous baseball players as Willie Mays, Stan Musial, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. He remembers fondly his visits to Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, New York. Due to his profession, Kevin's father was often away from home. Even in the off-season his father was busy practicing and traveling for speaking engagements. Due to Duke being away so much, Kevin's mother, Beverly, had to raise her four children alone most of the time. Kevin says his mother was the "rock" behind the family and kept things together. Beverly is now going on 91 years of age and resides in Fallbrook, California. She has put eight of her grandchildren through college! Kevin's ambition was to follow in his father's footsteps and become a baseball player. However, as fate may have it, he dislocated his shoulder by sliding into second base during his college years. The injury prevented him from achieving his goal. He attended a few colleges but graduated in 1975 from California Baptist in Riverside. Kevin began teaching middle school in 1976 in Pauma Valley. He also taught Physical Education in Blythe, California for 10 years. In 1997, Kevin moved to Hemet where he taught Economics and U.S. History for 13 years before retiring in 2010. Kevin and Roxy rented here in the Four Seasons before purchasing a home on Stephenson Lane this past year. Kevin loves the Four Seasons because of its security, activities, and friendly, helpful people in our community. Kevin and Roxy enjoy traveling. They plan to travel more when Roxy retires in two years. In the meantime, Kevin enjoys golfing with The Four Seasons Golf Club, working out in the gym, and attending many of the functions here in Four Seasons. Kevin's hope for the future: to stay healthy, watch his grandchildren grow, travel, and continue to enjoy living in the Four Seasons at Hemet. Meet Your Neighbor: Kevin Snider
