| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2017 | 3 I feel compelled to repeat an often used cliché…my how time does fly! It's hard to believe that it is March already! Many of us may still have to remind ourselves to write 2017 when making out checks, and now Spring is rapidly approaching. We hope everyone is enjoying the beauty brought on by all the recent rains, and how they have enhanced the appearance of our local hills, set against the gorgeous backdrop of snow-capped mountains. There have been a number of projects completed and underway within our community. New carpeting has been installed in our Lodge, along with new tiles in the Bistro area, and more floor covering projects are pending. The roof of our Lodge facility has undergone significant inspection and repair work, and not a moment too soon! Landscaping enhancements have been, and are continuing to be made throughout the community. Social activities abound and more are on the horizon. All of these accomplishments, as well as hundreds that have taken place before, are the direct result of the wonderfully talented and dedicated volunteers who serve on our various committees. It's all too easy to be critical. Constructive criticism is appreciated, but negative comments, especially when emanating from those who don't contribute, are counterproductive. As renowned author and philosopher, Iris Murdoch once said, "Between saying and doing, many a pair of shoes is worn out." We are very fortunate to be blessed with so many folks who are willing to roll up their sleeves and put in countless hours for the betterment of our Four Seasons community, and we appreciate their efforts. Speaking of volunteering, you should have already received the notice of our annual election and call for candidates for Board of Directors. There will be three 2-year terms expiring, plus one vacant seat. Consequently, there will be four seats on the Board of Directors to fill. So, if you believe you have the requisite abilities, and desire to serve, please consider submitting an application. On another topic, the Board would like to encourage all our owners and residents to stay informed about local activities and issues of importance. All too often rumors circulate and contribute to misinformation. We've all probably played the game called "Telephone" where people in a circle are asked to relay a brief message to the person next to them. It's amazing how distorted the message becomes by the time it reaches the last person. Often the message doesn't even remotely resemble the original one. That same phenomenon can occur when people share or repeat things they have "heard." We urge you to avail yourselves of one or more of the alternative sources of accurate information. Our monthly issue of the Herald Magazine contains articles from the various committees and clubs about their activities. You can call and seek information from one of our First Service Residential team members. We have an electronic message board in the Lodge lobby which displays information. E-blast messages routinely are issued about important topics. Or, you may opt to attend a committee meeting, all of which are open to residents to attend. In other words, the informational "water" is in the proverbial "trough," so all you have to do is "drink" it to quench your thirst for knowledge. Lastly, please remember to treat each other with appropriate courtesy and civility. Be respectful of others' property and especially one another's feelings. We are not all cut from the same cloth, and it is our differences that make us special. As Art Buchwald once said, "Whether it's the best of times or the worst of times, it's the only time we've got." So choose wisely how you spend it. Your Board of Directors wishes you all a happy St. Patrick's Day, because we all get to be Irish at least one day a year! Message From the Board of Directors Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Ken, Jim, Tony, Gene and Don, Russ Brown, Vice President
