62 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2017 | Louise Taylor On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, Louise Taylor went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 87. Louise was born in Oxnard, California on February 28, 1929, to William "Jesse" and Esther (Gerry) Mason, a well-known farming family in Camarillo. She graduated from Oxnard High School in 1947. Louise married John Taylor of Moorpark in 1948 and settled in El Centro, CA where they lived for 36 years. Louise was an active member of First Baptist Church, El Centro, serving as a Sunday School teacher, AWANA helper and deaconess. She retired as administrative secretary for the El Centro Elementary and Central Union High School Districts. In 2001, Louise moved to Sun Lakes where her many activities included the Art League, the Garden Club, the Republican Women's Club, a book club, Bocce Ball, the neighborhood Lunch Bunch, the Christian Women's Connection (serving twice as president) and Fellowship in the Pass Church, Beaumont. She traveled with family and friends to Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Great Britain, Viet Nam, Israel and across the continental United States. She loved to read, work with pastels and watercolors, play table games, and work jigsaw puzzles. Louise was predeceased by her husband, John in 1999. Survivors include her children and their families - Linda Taylor, Loma Linda, CA; Steve (Jackie) Taylor, Brisbane, Australia; Karen (Sam) Evans, Torrance, CA, David (Judy) Taylor, Boise, Idaho; 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Christopher, Lisa, Matthew and Mackenzie; two great grandsons: Isaac and Rowan; sister Genevieve (Charles) Peterson, Clovis, CA; brothers Bill (Barbara) Mason and Craig (Arlene) Mason, both of Camarillo, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:2-3. Walter H. Wohlers was born January 7, 1923 on a farm near Sterling, Nebraska. He has lived at Sun Lakes Country Club since 1987. He and his late wife, Donna, were the first residents to move to Sun Lakes in August 1987. Walt as he was known by family and friends, served as a B-29 pilot and flight engineer during WWII. He attended Wesleyan University and graduated from University of Nebraska, remaining a loyal Huskers' fan to the end. He holds two Master's degrees in school administration and math. He spent 43 years in secondary education as a math teacher, football coach and school administrator His last 30 years were spent at Eisenhower High School, Rialto, CA. His first position was at Wilber, NE in 1947. He retired from education in 1990. Mr. Wohlers was a life member of the National Education Association and a member of the California Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed playing golf with friends at Sun Lakes and entertaining as a stand up comedian. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Donna Meyer Wohlers, and four brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Lori Lai, daughter, Suzan Iverson and husband Jack of Capistrano Beach, CA, son, Robert Wohlers and wife Margerie of Gridley, CA, three grandchildren, Michelle Hausz, Chris Wohlers, and Alana Wohlers, two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Cameron Hausz and twelve nieces and nephews. Patricia A. Zackula passed away on December 28, 2016. She was born June 27, 1945 in Ft. Collins Colorado. She was a Registered Nurse for more than 50 years. Residing in Glendale seven years and Duarte, California for 37 years and retiring in Banning at the Sun Lakes Country Club community. Her hobbies and passions were bowling, crocheting, dancing, golf, camping, and raising her children and loving her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother Thomas Harris and father Leonard Harris. She is survived by her mother Phyllis Taylor, sisters Patricia Napalotano, Gemeilia Hambridge, son Jonathan and family, Stephanie, granddaughter Elizabeth, grandsons Andrew and Cole, Daughter Tracy, (Zackula Holladay and family Peter and grandchildren Grace, Jasmine, Zechariah, Joshua and newborn Charles Richard Holladay. She loved her retirement at Sun Lakes, especially riding around in her golf cart, playing Bocce ball, going to plays, being part of the computer club and all social events She loved breakfast at the Main Clubhouse restaurant the Sandwedge and meeting new friends.
