new excursions & fu Sign-ups begin for the Recreation Department excursions on Tues., Sept. 4, at 8 am, in the Rec. Dept. offices. PLEASE NOTE! Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you THE FRENCH CONNECTION Sat., Nov. 10, 4:30 - 10 pm. $40 pp, includes dinner. Start your evening off with deluxe motorcoach transportation to dinner at the Soup Plantation (included). The Soup Plantation includes an all-you-can-eat extensive salad bar with soups, pastas, breads, pizza and muffins. There are also various fountain drinks, a fruit and dessert counter and ice cream machine. After dinner we will make the short drive over to the San Bernardino Symphony for the 7:30 pm performance featuring "The French Connection" featuring Esther Keel, piano. As a soloist, Ms. Keel has appeared in prestigious concert halls all over the world. Join us for this musical journey to France with Pelleas and Melisandre by Faure, Piano Concerto in G by Ravel (featuring Ester Keel, piano soloist), Petite Suite by DeBussy and Symphony in C by Bizet. The bus will drop-off and pick-up in front of the theater, and for our convenience, personnel from the theater will be in charge of handing out the tickets before we un-load the bus. CAMP PENDLETON MARINE CORP TOUR Fri., Nov. 16, 7 am - 6 pm. $25 pp, includes lunch. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States and serves as its prime and largest amphibious training facility in the nation, while it covers 17 miles of coastline and home to 40,000 active duty Marines and their dependents. The base was established in 1942 to train U.S. Marines for service in World War II. By October 1944, Camp Pendleton was declared a "permanent installation" and by 1946 it became the home of the 1st Marine Division. Corporal Iams will be our step on guild for the tour, which could include a visit to the Landing Racked Museum, the Mechanized Museum, a demonstration by their distinguished K-9 Military Working Dog Unit or a Marine Corps Martial Arts demonstration. Whichever we get the chance to check-out and observe, it will be a very unique experience. In between the tour we will rest and have the privilege to eat lunch alongside the Marines in their very own "Chow Hall" (included). Come along with us today and peek inside a world that is unknown to some, and revisited by others. Wear casual clothing, bring bottled water and don't forget your cameras! You must be a U.S. citizen and have a government photo ID to enter the base. excursion reminder S/O = Sold Out (wait list avail.)
