DISTRICTBU SLCC Marines & Friends Can you imagine? Some of us could tell some strange stories about our birthplaces. This one takes the cake: Imagine some 237 years ago in a bar, yes a bar in Philadelphia; your father was none other than the Second Continental Congress when on Nov. 10, 1775, the Continental Marines were born. Then on Nov. 11, 1798, Congress formed The United States Marine Corps. We are stronger than ever and have the pleasure to announce that the Marine Aircraft Wing Band from MCAS Miramar will be at Sun Lakes on Oct., 18, at 5 pm to play for your listening pleasure. More information on this and other events for this year will be announced soon. Please mark this date on your calendars. Fashion Show & Luncheon All Sun Lakes residents and their guests are invited to District 21, 22 and 23's fashion show and luncheon, "Fall in Love with Fashion," on Oct. 19. Doors to the Main Clubhouse Ballroom will open at 10:30 am. Models from the three districts will be wearing women's fashions from Coldwater Creek and Brooks Brothers, along with the debut of men modeling clothes from Brooks Brothers. The cost is only $27; checks should be made payable to District 23. Ticket sales will be in the Main Clubhouse lobby on the following days and times: Mon. 9/24, Tues. 9/25 & Wed., Sept. 26, 9 - 11 am; Thurs. Sept. 27, 9 am-12 noon; and Fri. Sept. 28, 11 am-2 pm. Tickets will be sold on a first come-first serve basis so don't forget to buy your ticket as soon as possible. The show and luncheon is certain to be one you won't want to miss.
