FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2017 43 Ballroom & Social Dance Due to continued uncertainty about the use of our Ballroom, we must cancel our Spring Fling Dinner Dance. We cannot risk having tickets sold and everything ready only to discover at the last minute that the Ballroom is unavailable. In July we'll have our mid-year Summer Fun Dinner Dance, so stay tuned. Some dancers are beginners, some are intermediates and some are advanced. But here at Four Seasons we always recognize the limitations we have as we age. We hate to admit it, but we're not as flexible as we were, don't have as much stamina, and our joints complain more. Even so, our form of dancing is helpful in warding off stiffness, keeping our bodies fit, and providing good activity for our minds. It's an enjoyable and holistic approach to good health. Stop by the Ballroom on Monday evenings at 6 pm to see what we do, how we learn, how our professional instructors teach, and how you might benefit from and enjoy dancing with us. By the end of four weeks they know four to five simple dances. However, the names have caused some confusion, so I have decided to rename the classes: Beginners: Offered ever other month (odd months only) at 2:30 pm. Just to clarify: this class is for very beginners only (with some repeats). This is a 30-minute class designed to teach you the most common dance steps and a couple of full dances. Please be on time, wear comfortable shoes to dance in and bring water. Intermediate: Weekly 3 to 3:45 pm. Once you have the basics, this class teaches you more steps and additional dances. The first part of the class consists of easy dances using the steps you know and adding some additional fairly easy steps. Then we go to slightly more complicated dances, spending more time on each dance as they become more difficult. Advanced: Weekly 3:45 to 4:30 pm. I teach much harder and more complicated dances. Time spent on each dance varies as to how fast the class picks up the steps. We keep reviewing the steps until the majority of the class knows the dance. Sometimes this takes several weeks on complicated dances. About half the class is devoted to dancing to favorites that the class enjoys. My goal is to teach you as much as you want to learn. The class has a lot of fun and everyone is helpful. So, if you have thought about learning to line dance, come join us or come to watch to see if you are interested. All classes are on Tuesday afternoon in the Lodge Ballroom unless construction is underway. Hope to see you on the dance floor!
