Billiards for Fun
Wow! Does this group ever have fun when quarterly tournament time comes
around! Our first tournament for 2017 was held Feb. 21. We mixed things up a little
this time: We pulled peas as usual, but after a win or loss, each team was responsible
to record the outcome. All the players were paired with a partnership with the same
win/loss record, so the play went really smoothly. After the double elimination, David
Martin and Mike Corbett were the morning session victors. They agreed to return
around 2 pm as the afternoon session winners were about to be announced: Ken
Gomer and Pete Antoine. Since Dave and Mike were undefeated, Ken and Pete had to
beat them twice. Which they did. Pete and Ken emerged as the first place tournament
victors, and Dave and Mike took the second place slot. They were the first winners
in the 2017 column of the BFFG plaque! During play, however, it was so quiet in that
room you were almost afraid to breathe! Sincere congratulations to everyone who
played in the tournament. You are all amazing!
Oh, and we had another bi-monthly potluck on Feb. 7, with a mountain of desserts
prepared by the amazing cooks in the group. Somehow all the food is balanced and
wonderful, and we are grateful to Paul Snyder and Joy Collins for hosting the luncheon
and decorating in a Valentine's Day theme. It was wonderful!
If any of you Four Seasons residents want to join an amazing group of really fun
people, please drop by the Billiards Room any Tuesday at 11 am or 1 pm which are the
beginning times of our two formal sessions. We'd love to have you join us! (We also
have a practice session for anyone interested on Saturdays at the same times.) Hope
