28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2017 STAG: Senior Transportation Assistance Group Interest Group Feb. 13 was our latest free buffet and tour at Morongo. We are grateful for the help that James Foster, our current T NOW Chairperson, head of Morongo Transportation and Philip Go, Morongo Casino Front office Manager afforded us in this great year of travel training for our Four Seasons STAG. We have just gotten the go-ahead of our 2017 free tours and buffets (see box below). Our Feb. 16 meeting had Richard Smith, Executive Director of Living Partnership and General Manager for TRIP Program, as our speaker. He made it very clear that by using this program the volunteer driver and person initiating the rides were not in danger of being insurance liabilities. This is a reimbursement program for the person needing a ride to pay a volunteer driver for expenses. We hope to have Richard back at a future meeting for STAG. At the moment we have two travel training trips in the making: March 10 was our trip to Polly's in Hemet and shopping at the newly renovated mall. April 10 is our trip to Cabazon Outlet with lunch at the food court. For reservations for our travel training trips please call Brenda or Richard Teeman at (951) 845-8477 or email me at brendarteeman@ verizon.net. Let us know which trip you are interested in and state your name, telephone number and email address. We have had a great time bonding with our neighbors on these trips and hope you will join us. Upcoming meetings: April 20, 12 pm: Guest speaker Lisa Almilli, Mobility Manager, Riverside Transit Agency will speak on RTA, ADA, and Dial a Ride. May 24, 6 pm: Ice Cream Social. We are privileged to have the Department Administrator of Kaiser Redlands facility as our speaker. This is an informational meeting. We will take questions in writing before the meeting. Kaiser members: Please sign our petition in the Lodge to get Kaiser's attention that we need further services in the Pass Area, such as doctors and urgent care locally available. Four Seasons people wishing to take a taxi to any Kaiser facility will get a discounted fare from Valley Taxi. The cost per round trip is about one-third of what you would pay to any other taxi service. Please tell them you want the discount for Four Seasons STAG. We would appreciate any increased business to any destination to keep our discounts going with Valley Taxi. Tuesdays: Dial A Ride from the Lodge to Albertsons, Ross, Walmart, and Kohl's leaving at 10 am and returning at 12:30 pm. Please try leaving your car at home at least every few months to help reduce traffic in the area. This is sponsored by Beaumont Pass Transit. Let's keep this route going by showing ridership. We would like to increase attendance of our STAG meetings. We are only asking for one hour of your time once a month to discuss our future of aging in place. Many of us won't drive at night. Driving problems have a way of creeping up on us. Let us hear from you. Your problems and opinions are important to us. STAG meetings meet at the Lodge the third Thursday of the month at 12 pm. ~ Brenda and Richard Teeman Teri Kelman gets assistance during our trip to Morongo The Travel Training Group awaiting transport to Morongo The Travel Training Group arrives at Morongo MORONGO BUS TRIPS Second Thursday of the month is Mystery Bonus Day!
