FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2017 61 The first play day was Sunday, March 5. Several hearty players came out at noon. It was cool and there was a breeze. See the six newly renewed courts. By the time this article is published there will be trees with new leaves, warm days, and flowers all around, all a few steps south of RCN Building at the Lodge. Everyone is welcome. Everyone is learning. Players use a cue (cue- stick), to push their colored disks, down the court. The scoring diagram is divided by lines, into six scoring zones, with the following values: 10, 8, 8, 7, 7, 10-off. You hope not to land on 10-off. Play times are 12 noon Sundays, 10 am Mondays, 2 pm Fridays, 11 am Saturdays. All are welcome. Come join in the fun and learn. Hiking the Back Country Our March hike was to the "back country." Actually it was back to a place we have hiked several times before, Oak Canyon. We drove through Yucaipa en route which brought us in the back way to the conservancy. Then we hiked the circular backward (counter- clockwise) to see the trail from a different direction. Experienced hikers know to stop often and view the return trail markings particularly if the trail is not well marked. This trail has a steep slope in one section but a sign to that effect is only for downhill while most noticeable when hoofing uphill. The warning sign for Last Mountain Lion Seen sign is only visible on one sign. Presumably any unlucky hiker fleeing a large cat would be too busy running to read it the other way. To complete the morning experience brunch was at Law's Oak Glen Coffee where we started with dessert.
