36 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2017 | Bocce The Bocce Club had their season sign-up on March 5 and decided to start the season in the spring with the first game on March 19. Although there was a smaller turn out, the members are excited to play on the courts when they were told that our association approved money to have the courts upgraded. They will be graded down below the side rails and sand will be spread on top of the clay already inside the courts which is the foundation material used to absorb the impact of the ball hitting the playing field. This will help dry the courts much faster after an unexpected rain shower. We plan to finish our season the first part of June with an awards banquet following the tournament. We will give out that information as we get started in the weekly games. We hope that by changing the season this will encourage players to sign up and reserve the fall for our football enthusiasts. We always need folks to sub for our players that have scheduled vacations, so please sign up as a volunteer to help those players that can't make every game. The list is posted at the information counter in the Lodge. Meanwhile, good luck to all our players this year and we will see you out there on the courts. Newsflash: Our Shuffleboard Courts are getting a new face lift. Thanks to our association, they have approved money to resurface and re-stripe with new lines and numbers, and epoxy the courts to a glossy finish. This will hopefully make our players happy and give them a better advantage compared to the dull courts they played on last year. We will present the community with some pictures as soon as the work is completed and encourage all residents to check out equipment and give it a try. The courts are always available to residents except for the time that the Club is scheduled to play each week. The fee was lowered to $10 each player this year since they chose to have a BBQ to celebrate the winner this year. We will be looking for volunteers to help out with the cooking. We voted to change the season from the fall to the spring to coincide with the Bocce Club and make it easier for those folks that play both sports. We have a pretty good turn out this year with 52 players signing up. We wish all the players good luck and enjoy the new courts. Shuffleboard
