"What a fun event," I'm told by many of you who attended the Sock Hop on Feb. 25. Francisco's salad,
pizza and ice cream sundaes were fantastic. There was music by All Occasion Disc Jockeys who played
a terrific array of 1950s and '60s dance tunes. The 5 Seasonettes entertained us (Betty Crase, Leola Kindt,
Candace Hawley, Sandy Tiffin and Chris Pounders) who sang Mr. Sandman, Chapel of Love, and
Dream.
We had a dance contest won by Carol Fishburn with her newly engaged man. Sandy Tiffin beat
out six others for a Hula Hoop contest! Each won a $25 cash prize.
There were many who danced the night away, including some slow dance songs. Some who could not
dance commented on how they enjoyed listening to the music and reminiscing. I want to thank my committee:
Diane Corte, Linda Gentile, Maggie Grimes, Margo Dennis, Royce Jerman, Carolyn Lebo and, of course, my co-
chairs, without whom I could not have done this event, Bill and Carolyn Ashdown. Thank you all for a great job!
