| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2017 | 3 By Doug Swenson FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK With the winter we just experienced, spring this year has been most welcome. Now that the warm weather has arrived, many of you are making plans to change some things in your yard to improve their look. Remember that when you do this you need to notify Code Enforcement and get their approval of these changes so your records can accurately reflect what you have done. Many of you are now enjoying the wonderful golf courses we have. This past winter has been exceptionally tough on the golf course which caused the golf course staff to close the course due to all the rain. If the courses had remained open, they would have been destroyed by the carts. We all want to enjoy the facilities we have but need to remember that sometimes they have to be closed due to repairs or renovation. When a facility needs to be shut down, the staff and the Master Board look at all aspects of the work and the scheduled use of it prior to shutting it down so that the least amount of residents are affected and the work is completed in the shortest amount of time. The staff and Master Board thank you for your understanding and compliance. The election of the Master Board is held every April in Sun Lakes. By this time you should have all received your ballot, filled it out, and mailed it in. This is a very simple task but is most important because you are electing members of the Master Board whom you have decided are the best people to run the homeowners association. This year there are two positions open with five candidates. Please do your civic duty and complete and send in your ballot. I have had the honor of serving as a Master Board member for four years and as the President for the last 14 months, it is now time for me to retire from this function in order to free up my time for other endeavors and to let some other lucky individual move into the position. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents who supported me. I have enjoyed my time on the Board and have been most impressed with the positive feedback and encouragement I have received from you. It is most gratifying to receive positive feedback from a resident when a project is completed. The Master Board is elected to serve you and this is the best way we can determine that we are doing the right job. I also want to express my thanks to the Associa/PCM staff. Sun Lakes Country Club is a large complex with many amenities and facilities and without the staff, everything would come to a halt. I have worked with them on a daily basis for the last four years and have never worked with a more knowledgeable and dedicated group of people. They are the experts in their field and keep the Board on the correct path at all times. Lastly, I want to thank the other Board members with whom I have worked over these four years. These volunteers are elected to serve on the Master Board and once the election is completed they have to come together to make the right decisions to make this place work. There are always differences of opinions, but at the end of the day we have to move on. I feel we have done a very good job of resolving differences on most issues and have made the necessary decisions that will keep Sun Lakes Country Club moving forward as one of the best retirement communities in the country. Thank all of you for making the last four years a very rewarding experience for me. 2017 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP AND ELECTION OF DIRECTORS The Sun Lakes Country Club Homeowners Association Annual Meeting of the Membership and Election of Directors will be Wed., April 12, at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. There are two open positions on the Board. Each newly elected director will serve a two-year term. Two "Meet the Candidates" forums were conducted in March. Both Forums are aired on channel 97 daily, immediately following the open session board meeting. They can also be viewed on the Sun Lakes website (sunlakescc.com).
